Role

Legal & Regulatory Analysts are a key part of Octus’ editorial team. They provide a comprehensive understanding of legal, regulatory and legislative processes, and are critical in helping us provide our subscribers with excellent reporting and analysis of special situations.

This is a New York City-based position, with an in-office requirement of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day coverage of regulatory proceedings, rulemakings, legislative developments, and litigations across a wide variety of cases, industries and jurisdictions
  • Report on developments on a short time frame and in accordance with Octus’ style guide
  • Prepare long-form analysis of legal, regulatory, and legislative developments
  • Collaborate with Octus’ financial analysts and reporters to enhance editorial product
  • Participate in teleconferences and meetings with subscribers seeking expert analysis
  • Publish stories completely, on time, and correctly
  • Utilize Octus’ legal editorial product, editorial workflow, and practices effectively

Requirements

  • Graduate with excellent academic record and 1-3 years experience as legislative or regulatory staffer or a position involving other legal or regulatory analysis 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Enjoys creative problem-solving and looks to take on new challenges
  • The willingness and ability to travel occasionally for hearings and other industry events
  • A working familiarity with legislative and regulatory processes
  • Experience with health care regulation and policy a plus

At Octus, we consider a range of factors in connection with compensation decisions, including experience, skills, location, and our business needs and limitations. As a result, compensation may vary within and across similar roles and positions. Please note that the salary range information below is a good faith estimate for this position and actual compensation for any individual may fall outside this range if warranted by the circumstances applicable to that individual. If we identify a role that would be suitable for a broader range of skills and experience such that we would consider hiring at multiple levels then the range listed below may reflect that breadth.

The salary range estimate for this position is $85,000 - $100,000 

The actual compensation will be at Octus’ sole discretion and will be determined by the aforementioned and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for an annual year-end performance bonus.
