ID5 enables addressable and measurable advertising to support the growth of the digital economy and provide free and safe access to content and services. Technical changes, signal loss, and increasingly more stringent data protection regulations require new, advanced technologies that enable audience addressability while respecting people’s privacy preferences.

ID5 has risen to this challenge and developed solutions that support publishers’ and marketers’ need for better addressability. Its laser focus on Identity sets it apart from competitive solutions and enables the company to offer the most advanced and sophisticated identity services to over 100,000 media properties, and hundreds of technology platforms and advertisers, making it the most adopted identity solution in the market.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and talented Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-junior level lawyer to immerse themselves in the rapidly evolving world of advertising technology and global privacy law. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and commercially-minded individual with a passion for technology and a strong desire to learn and grow with us. You will play a crucial role in supporting our global business, with a particular focus on commercial negotiations and ensuring our products and practices align with the highest standards of data protection.

What You'll Do

  • Commercial Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, data processing agreements (DPAs), publisher and advertiser contracts, and vendor agreements. You will be expected to work autonomously on these negotiations, identifying and mitigating risks while helping our commercial teams achieve their goals.
  • Privacy and Data Protection: Serve as a key resource on global privacy laws and regulations - and we mean truly global. We operate in the EU, US, LATAM, APAC, and nearly every country around the world. You will assist in maintaining and updating our privacy policies, conducting privacy impact assessments, and providing guidance to our product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design principles.
  • Product Counseling: Develop a deep understanding of ID5’s technology and products. You will work closely with our technical teams to ensure that our contractual commitments and privacy practices are in lockstep with our product functionalities.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments in the adtech industry and global privacy landscape. You will be responsible for providing concise and actionable advice to the business on these developments, and producing internal- and external-facing content relevant to our business.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of our legal processes and templates. We are looking for someone with a basic knowledge of and interest in leveraging AI and other legal technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

What You'll Bring

  • A law degree and qualification to practice in a relevant jurisdiction (e.g., a US state bar or a European qualification).
  • 2-4 years of relevant legal experience, either in-house at a technology company or at a law firm with a focus on technology, commercial, and/or privacy law.
  • A strong foundation in global privacy law, with expertise in at least one of the EU (GDPR) or US (CCPA/CPRA) privacy frameworks. A desire to become an expert in both is essential.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. You should be comfortable taking the lead in negotiations with customers and partners.
  • An exceptional aptitude for understanding and explaining complex technical concepts. You are naturally curious about how technology works and can translate technical details into legal and commercial implications.
  • The ability to learn rapidly and adapt extremely well to changing priorities and environments. You thrive in ambiguity and can quickly grasp new concepts and industries. You are also highly solution-oriented, always seeking effective and practical solutions to complex problems.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment. You are adaptable, resilient, and can manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset. You are a team player who is eager to learn and contribute.
  • A basic understanding of how AI and other technologies can be used to improve the efficiency of legal work, and an interest in learning how to identify opportunities and drive internal AI transformation.
