Kimball Electronics, a $1B+ publicly traded, global, multifaceted manufacturing solutions provider that has an excellent internship opportunity for a law student to experience the corporate legal world by assisting in various challenging, high-profile projects and gain solid, hands-on experience in the field of corporate governance and sustainability reporting. The Legal Analyst Intern will play an integral role in coordinating and supporting important aspects of Kimball Electronics’ sustainability/ESG reporting and will assist the legal department on other corporate governance matters as they arise during the summer, including development of legal templates and contract playbooks, researching M&A and asset acquisition transactions and assisting with conducting in-depth profiling and due diligence. This can be a full-time, paid internship or taken for credit (with approval of the law school) and is available for 6-12 weeks starting in May 2025. The Legal Analyst Intern is a part of our Shared Services team, and can be based in the Indianapolis, IN area, at our headquarters in Jasper, IN, at one of our global facilities, or remotely. The Intern will report directly to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and work closely with our corporate counsel.
Given the small size of the team, our new team member must be very well-organized, self-motivated, and display a strong attention to detail. This internship offers significant responsibility and broad exposure to many aspects of the business, including the opportunity to present the results of your work to the company’s leadership team. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in corporate law, governance, environmental law, or international law; but would also have an interest in operational aspects of the business. Fluency in a language spoken at one of our global locations in addition to English is a plus.

Learn and adopt Kimball Electronics philosophies and culture
Prepare research on sustainability disclosures and third-party scoring
Assist in preparation of disclosure planning and analyses
Assist in all aspects of corporate governance activities
1-3 Months:
Prepare information used to respond to third-party surveys and analyses of the company
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to collect sustainability/ESG data
Communicate results of analysis, research, and disclosures, both orally and in writing, to senior management
Assist with due diligence, execution, and integration as directed
Prepare presentation materials for senior management
Prepare and submit materials to third party sustainability/ESG organizations
Key Qualifications/competencies
Must be a graduate student pursuing a JD or LLM or a dual law degree (environmental a plus)
Excellent writing and analytical skills
Strong collaboration, coordination and facilitation skills
1-2 years of experience in engineering, environmental law, or a compliance department a strong plus
Fluency in a language in addition to English is a strong plus
Proficient with technology and Microsoft Office applications
