BAE Systems is offering a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join our C5ISR Solutions team as we design, develop, build, integrate, test, and support the world's most advanced maritime systems. We are seeking a self-motivated, experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead our Maritime Engineering team to modernize our workforce through the application of the latest Digital Engineering tools and embrace the power of Automation, Artificial Intelligence, and Autonomy to drive efficiency. As the lead engineer for a portfolio of contracts delivering C5ISR capabilities to our warriors aboard Navy and US Coast Guard platforms, you will ensure the systems, products, and services being developed and delivered are viable, fit for purpose, and will satisfy customer and mission needs. This candidate will operate in an organizational culture that develops and challenges employees to achieve high performance using streamlined engineering and management policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
    • Lead system design and optimization activities, trades and analyses
    • Ensure system designs and implementation meet technical requirements and customer/mission needs within allocated engineering cost & schedule
    • Ensure system designs are produceable, maintainable, supportable and testable
    • Collaborate with engineers from different disciplines and maintain a good relationship with our government customer
    • Oversee and approve technical documentation, drawings, data, presentations, and technical report submissions to customers
    • Drive technical risk and opportunity definition, identification, and mitigation/realization
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Some limited relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidate. Applicants must be currently residing in or willing to relocate to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Master's degree in aerospace, computer, electrical, mechanical, software, or systems engineering
At least 10 years of progressive technical experience, including 5 years of experience as technical leader for a significant size team
Experience leading the development of Command and Control, Communications, Computing, Combat, or ISR systems/equipment for DoD applications
Working knowledge of project planning and management
Excellent cognitive, communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills, briefing and providing reports to executive-level leaders
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Familiarity with systems engineering disciplines across the full product/program lifecycle
Knowledge and experience working in the DoD technical services industry
Experience with leading edge Digital Engineering tools, including Cameo, PLM, Jira, Confluence, CAD/CAE
Familiarity with Military Standards and Specifications as well as DoD, Navy, NAVSEA, and NAVWAR Instructions and Guidance pertaining to C5ISR systems integration and installation on maritime platforms
Experience supporting proposal development activities, including technical and management approach development, cost estimating, and sample task development
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
