Hi, we’re CompanyCam.

We’re a simple-to-use photo documentation and productivity app for contractors of all commercial and home services industries. Packed with intuitive functionality, CompanyCam facilitates unparalleled communication and accountability across a contractor’s entire business. We’re committed to providing a consumer-grade, game-changing experience that helps our users build trust within their company and with their customers.

But don’t let that corporate description fool you—the people behind our buttoned-up product are laid-back (but hardworking), genuine, and kickass, and you could be one of them!

The Role

The Lead Product Designer sets the vision and experience strategy for a designated product area at CompanyCam. This role blends strategy, mentorship, and execution. You’ll guide design decisions from discovery to delivery, support other designers through feedback and coaching, and ensure the quality and cohesion of the final product experience. You’ll report to the Director of Product Design and partner closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers. You’re responsible for raising the quality of the team’s output and ensuring we’re solving the right problems in the right way—with a bias toward clarity, utility, and user impact.

Remote: Candidates must permanently and currently reside in the United States. Employees are not required to work in the office or relocate to Lincoln, Nebraska, for this opportunity. Employees are encouraged to come hang at headquarters for up to 10 days per calendar year on CompanyCam’s dime.

What We Care About

One Team: We don’t believe in working in silos. Designers, PMs, and engineers work together in tightly aligned product trios. We frame problems together, stress-test each other’s ideas, and build toward shared goals. We know that the best product work happens when multiple disciplines collaborate on the solution.

Design is a Strategy Lever: Design isn’t decoration. It’s how we turn insights into action, surface and validate assumptions, and create simple, powerful experiences that our customers love. As a Lead Product Designer, you’ll own experience quality in your area, and elevate design thinking across the company.

We Build for the Customer Journey: Our customers are busy contractors, not app power users. Every decision—what we ship, how we communicate it, how it works—needs to fit into their day, not disrupt it. We strive to create delightful, fast, and frictionless experiences at every touchpoint.

We Challenge Ourselves to Deliver Better Work: We don’t shy away from hard feedback or messy problems. We’re coachable, courageous, and honest—with ourselves and each other. We run frequent critiques, prioritize clarity and alignment, and are constantly refining both our product and our craft.

We Own Outcomes, Not Just Screens: Our goal isn’t just to design something beautiful—it’s to move the needle. You’ll be responsible for ensuring your team’s design work delivers real customer and business impact. That means guiding the work from problem framing through to polished execution, iterating as you go.

About The Product Design Team

We’re a small but mighty team of designers focused on bringing clarity to complexity. We care deeply about our craft, but just as much about how our work fits into the big picture. Our team is collaborative, kind, fast-moving, and allergic to ego.

We have 7 core principles.

  1. Customer obsessed: We keep user needs and experiences at the forefront of every design decision we make.
  2. Data-driven decision-makers: We validate our design choices with user research and usability data, ensuring our solutions are grounded in evidence rather than assumptions.
  3. Courageous: We show up and advocate for users, push for better design solutions, and don't avoid uncomfortable conversations about scope, feasibility, or direction.
  4. Coachable: We know we've got blind spots, so we actively seek design critique and feedback on how to grow our craft.
  5. Collaborative: We build context together and work seamlessly within product trios, co-creating solutions with PMs and engineers rather than designing in isolation.
  6. Lead through Influence: We guide design strategy and advocate for design quality across our teams. We step up to influence through compelling design rationale and clear communication.
  7. Culture Setters: We establish design practices and standards that elevate our work. Through our craft and collaboration, we model the design behaviors we want to see organization-wide.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the end-to-end experience strategy for a core product area, setting direction and ensuring cohesion across touchpoints
  • Deliver exceptional UI design that meets consumer-grade standards, creating polished interfaces that delight users and elevate our product experience
  • Provide design mentorship and feedback to designers in your area, raising the quality and clarity of their work
  • Partner closely with PMs and engineers to frame customer problems, run discovery, and ship high-quality solutions quickly
  • Contribute hands-on to the design work when needed, especially during early-stage problem-solving or complex interaction design
How You'll Make an Impact

At CompanyCam, your work makes a real impact. Whether you're writing code, supporting customers, or designing experiences, your contributions directly shape the product we deliver and the people we serve. We're building something that helps real people solve real problems—and we believe that kind of work is best done by a team that reflects the world around us. In this role, you’ll drive impact by:

  • Guiding strategic design decisions, ensuring we are solving the right problems in the right way
  • Representing design in key strategic decisions—balancing customer needs, technical feasibility, and business goals
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration through great facilitation, clear thinking, and compelling storytelling
What You’ll Bring (We’re Excited About You Because)
  • 6+ years of product design experience, including time spent in senior or lead-level roles
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates product thinking, craft, and impact across web and/or mobile experiences
  • Experience guiding the work of other designers and elevating team output through critique, mentorship, and strategic direction
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, with the ability to simplify complex workflows and make them intuitive
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills—you can rally a team, influence stakeholders, and make the case for good design
  • A bias toward action—you’re comfortable operating in ambiguity and pushing through to clarity
  • A love of feedback—you actively seek it, give it generously, and use it to grow
  • You’ve actively experimented with AI tools to improve discovery, workflows, or visual design—and can speak to what’s worked and what hasn’t
Bonus Points
  • You’ve led design work in a SaaS product, especially one with mobile-first use cases
  • You’re familiar with the ideas in Continuous Discovery Habits and bring a discovery mindset to your work
  • You have a solid grasp of HTML/CSS or front-end implementation trade-offs
  • You’ve designed for users in industries like construction, field service, or logistics
  • You’ve worked on AI-powered features, and know how to design around model behavior and user expectations.
