At Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, we empower developers and businesses with the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads. Trusted globally by thousands of organizations, Tiger accelerates real-time insights, drives intelligent applications, and powers critical infrastructure at scale. As a globally distributed, remote-first team committed to direct communication, accountability, and collaborative excellence, we're shaping the future of data infrastructure, built for speed, flexibility, and simplicity.

As a Lead FP&A & Strategic Finance Analyst at Tiger Data🐯, you will be a high-trust partner to our Head of Strategic Finance and GTM leadership team, helping us understand what is happening in the business, why it is happening, and where we need to act.

This role will be beyond your standard Finance Business Partner role and will be heavily focused on analytics. You will own core planning and analysis of headcount and departmental spend, working directly with the data to deliver key insights to the GTM teams.

This is a builder role for someone who loves FP&A, cares deeply about analytics, and wants real impact in a scaling environment.

📍 Location: This role is remote and open to candidates based in the United States, with a strong preference for Eastern or Central time zones to support close collaboration with business partners.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

Owning core FP&A planning and operating rhythms

  • Owning headcount forecasting and hiring budget tracking across the business.

  • Supporting and improving the company’s departmental budgeting process, including planning, forecasting, reporting, and budget-versus-actual analysis.

  • Monitoring departmental operating budgets, identifying risks and changes against plan, understanding ROI of spend, and driving follow-up actions with stakeholders.

  • Building trusted models, spreadsheets, and recurring reporting that leaders can understand, use, and make decisions from.

  • Helping create scalable planning processes that improve visibility, accountability, and decision quality across the business.

Driving GTM analytics and business partnership

  • Partnering with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing leadership to improve pipeline visibility, forecasting accuracy, and overall go-to-market performance.

  • Owning the design, administration, and calculation of commission and incentive plans across GTM teams, including maintaining accurate payouts and supporting scalable compensation processes.

  • Building the reporting, dashboards, and KPI frameworks used to track revenue performance, identify trends, and support operational and strategic decision-making.

Building scalable finance systems, reporting, and decision support

  • Using AI tools effectively to improve the speed, quality, and scalability of analysis and reporting workflows, while exercising strong judgment around accuracy, business context, and data integrity.

  • Pulling and validating data independently using SQL

  • Building spreadsheets and models that people can digest and trust

  • Fluency with respect to creating very clear Google and PowerPoint slides

You could be a great fit if you:

  • Have strong FP&A and analytical fundamentals, including forecasting, headcount planning, variance analysis, operating expense management, and financial modeling.

  • Have experience supporting go-to-market organizations through pipeline analysis, forecasting, KPI reporting, sales productivity analysis, and commission or incentive plan administration.

  • Are comfortable working directly with raw data, including pulling, validating, and analyzing data using SQL.

  • Can connect operational metrics to financial outcomes and clearly communicate what changed, why it changed, and what the business should do next.

  • Are deeply curious, instinctively ask follow-up questions, and feel unsatisfied stopping at surface-level explanations or reporting.

  • Can build spreadsheets, models, dashboards, and presentations that are accurate, digestible, and trusted by business leaders.

  • Are comfortable partnering directly with leaders across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Finance to drive accountability, improve visibility, and support decision-making.

  • Have strong judgment around AI tools and know how to use them to accelerate analysis and reporting without compromising accuracy, context, or data integrity.

  • Thrive in high-growth, ambiguous environments where systems and processes are still being built.

  • Believe that organizations are strongest when they are diverse and inclusive, and you are committed to helping create that kind of environment.

You might not be a great fit if you:

  • Prefer highly structured environments with clean systems, fixed processes, and narrowly defined responsibilities.

  • Are comfortable producing reports but less energized by investigating what is actually driving performance or uncovering inconsistencies in the data.

  • Want a purely strategic finance role without recurring ownership of execution, reporting, and operating cadence.

  • Need a manager to fully scope the analysis before you can get moving.

The base salary range for this role is $130,000–$165,000 USD. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, location, skills, and interview performance. Compensation may also include equity, bonus, and benefits, depending on eligibility.

Our Commitment:
  • We respond to every applicant.

  • We review applications fairly and objectively, and shortlist based on relevant skills and experience.

  • We ensure clear and timely communication throughout your candidate journey.

  • We maintain a rigorous interview process with a high bar, designed to give you the opportunity to meet various team members you'll collaborate with across our organization.
