As a Lead CAD Designer, you will join our growing civil engineering team and play a key role in delivering complex design solutions. The ideal candidate will lead civil engineering design efforts, mentor junior designers, and provide technical solutions using advanced 2D and 3D CAD knowledge. In this role, you will take ownership of design quality and accuracy, ensuring compliance with project standards and client requirements. You will work closely with engineers and other disciplines to develop detailed construction plans and exhibits for a variety of civil projects, including site development, grading, drainage, and stormwater management. This position also involves coordinating with survey, geotechnical, and structural teams, troubleshooting design challenges, and maintaining CAD standards and templates to support efficient workflows.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of civil engineering designs and construction plans, including grading, drainage, and site layout.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D for alignments, profiles, and grading features to produce engineered plans and sheet setups, including plan views, sections, elevations, and details.
- Apply advanced concepts for site grading, storm drainage, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater best management practices.
- Collaborate with civil engineers to interpret design intent and translate it into accurate CAD drawings.
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as survey, electrical, geotechnical, and structural engineering to ensure seamless design integration.
- Troubleshoot and solve design challenges with practical, client-focused solutions while applying creativity and independent thought.
Position Requirements:
- An associate or technical degree in CAD, civil engineering technology, or a related field is required.
- Eight or more years of experience in civil design, with strong proficiency in Civil 3D.
- Advanced understanding of civil design principles, including grading, drainage, and stormwater management.
- Ability to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and maintain design standards.
