HealthEdge is in a period of rapid growth and consolidation following recent mergers. As we scale, the Business Technology team ensures the platforms powering our engineering and service delivery teams keep pace, not just running but evolving alongside the teams that depend on them. We are hiring a Lead Atlassian Platform Architect to design and stand up our new Atlassian Cloud foundation.

This is a greenfield build with a consolidation mandate behind it. You will design a new Jira Software Cloud instance from the ground up, plan and sequence the migration of multiple existing Jira instances into it, and establish the governance model that keeps a single tenant coherent while still giving engineering teams room to work the way they work. You will own the architecture and the standards.

The Atlassian platform at HealthEdge serves two distinct populations: internal teams adopting Jira, Confluence and JSM for their own delivery, and external customers who reach us through service portals. You will architect for both, which means designing for regulated data and clear trust boundaries from day one rather than retrofitting them later.

If you have stood up an enterprise Atlassian Cloud tenant, hold real opinions about where to standardize and where to let teams flex, reach for AI before someone asks you to, and would rather own a decision than escalate it, this role is for you.

In This Role

  • Design the target-state Atlassian architecture. Own instance and tenancy design, project and workflow schemes, permission and issue security models, custom field strategy and naming standards for Jira Software Cloud.
  • Lead the migration program. Plan discovery, assessment and migration waves across multiple source instances, and own sequencing and cutover decisions.
  • Build the governance model. Establish configuration standards, an architecture review mechanism and change control with real authority behind it, while preserving the flexibility engineering teams need to move.
  • Draw the out-of-the-box versus custom line. Decide when native capability, marketplace apps, Forge or Connect, or custom development is the right answer.
  • Architect for regulated data. Own Atlassian Access, including SSO, SCIM provisioning, authentication policy and IP allowlisting, and design permission architecture and data residency that hold up to audit and keep customer-facing portals cleanly separated from internal work.
  • Own the AI layer on the platform. Design how Rovo, Atlassian Intelligence and Claude are applied to knowledge management, search grounding, ticket deflection and administrative automation.
  • Set the technical bar. Mentor other architects and our admin base across the US, India and Mexico, and leave behind reference architectures, decision records and automation libraries that outlast any single project.

What We Are Looking For

  • Deep Atlassian Cloud architecture experience. 8+ years in the Atlassian ecosystem, with 3+ in an architecture or platform design capacity. You have designed and stood up enterprise Jira Software Cloud environments, not only administered someone else’s.
  • Proven migration ownership. You have led Cloud-to-Cloud consolidations at scale and can name the instances, the user counts and what went wrong.
  • Governance instinct. You have built configuration standards that teams actually followed, and you can articulate the trade-off between control and autonomy that enables maximum business velocity.
  • Breadth across the suite. Real depth in Jira Software plus working command of Confluence and JSM, including request types, SLAs, queues, portal design, knowledge structure and deflection strategy.
  • AI in practice, not in theory. You are actively using Rovo, Atlassian Intelligence, Claude and similar in your work today and can show what you have built with them.
  • Program discipline. You are comfortable owning a plan, a sequence and a set of dependencies.
  • Regulated environment experience. You have worked where access control, audit evidence and data handling are constraints you design around, ideally healthcare, financial services or another regulated industry.
  • In-house orientation. You have owned a platform inside a company rather than delivering projects for clients, and you want to build something you will live with.
  • Atlassian certifications. ACP-620 for Jira Cloud migration or ACP-120 for Jira Cloud administration are preferred, not required.
