EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Denver, CO. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Qualifications

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus 
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred
Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting
0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis  
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift: 
Position is full time, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
