Kubernetes Operator Engineer

At the heart of ClickHouse Cloud is a Kubernetes operator. This operator manages thousands of databases, and is deployed in three clouds and dozens of regions and Kubernetes clusters. The operator is responsible for provisioning new ClickHouse clusters, managing users and permissions, configuration, backups, upgrades and much more. As part of our team, you will play a key role in evolving this critical component. You'll design and implement new features to support the growing complexity and scale of our cloud platform, while ensuring the operator remains robust, testable, and easy to maintain.

What will you do?
  • Work deep inside Kubernetes to design and develop new features and improvements for the clickhouse-operator
  • Work closely with the autoscaling team and the core team to make sure new features are integrated seamlessly into the operator
  • Educate and support other teams so that they can contribute to the operator codebase
  • Be part of the on-call rotation and investigate issues in our ClickHouse Cloud production environment
About you
  • You have 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
  • Software development experience in Go.
  • Experience developing kubernetes operators.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience leading and shipping large scope technical projects in collaboration with multiple experienced engineers.
  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across engineering teams.
  • You are a strong problem solver and have solid production debugging skills.
  • You thrive in a fast paced environment, and see yourself as a partner with the business with the shared goal of moving the business forward.
  • You have a high level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability
  • Experience with ClickHouse preferred.

$157,000$232,000 USD
Washington State - Full Salary Range
$133,450$197,200 USD
General US Remote Salary Range
$125,600$185,500 USD
