Leidos is seeking a Kubernetes Engineer to provide mission critical system support to our customer.  This role will work closely with Infrastructure engineering, network engineering, and SecDevOps engineering, as well as other technology stakeholders to maintain, develop and support the AGUN program executing Agile methodologies within the SAFe framework.  The Infrastructure I/T Engineer will work collaboratively within an AGUN engineering team to deploy and operate systems and help automate and streamline operations and processes.  Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, and troubleshoot and resolve issues in dev, test, and production environments.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Must currently possess and be able to maintain an active DoD SECRET security clearance. (US Citizenship required)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing, building, configuring, administering, operating, and maintaining infrastructure components that comprise the AGUN INC1 solution with an emphasis on Kubernetes platforms and related infrastructure
  • Developing and maintaining scripts to automate tool and application container deployment to a Kubernetes environment and other tasks
  • Development and maintenance of Linux virtual machines that operate as Kubernetes nodes within a distributed Kubernetes cluster
  • Scripting and maintaining all environments including development, test, pre-production, and production.
  • Working with other project teams to integrate their products into the I/T infrastructure
  • Assist with the definition of enterprise Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment processes and best practices related to container-based applications
  • Developing automated testing to verify the correction installation, deployment, and operation of I/T infrastructure

Basic Qualifications:

  • Setup, configure, and maintain Kubernetes services in support of AGUN engineers to include Kubernetes nodes, control plane, clusters, and pods
  • Require active DoD IAT Level II (i.e. Security+) certification or equivalent prior to start.
  • Troubleshoot user issues with I/T Infrastructure Services, escalating when necessary
  • Manage infrastructure configurations across all the I/T Services provided in support of a Kubernetes platform
  • Apply security controls and hardening to a clustered Kubernetes platform and associated infrastructure
  • Document frequently asked questions and create/update knowledge base articles for developers regarding use of I/T Infrastructure services
  • Candidate must have BS with 8-12 years of prior relevant work experience or Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant work experience. Will consider work experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understands configuration management tools such as Bitbucket and Nexus.
  • Strong knowledge with Agile development methodologies and the Atlassian suite of tools
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD integration using Gitlab and Git
  • Experience with Languages including Python, YAML, Go, and Unix shell Scripting

At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, “what’s next?” before the dust settles on “what’s now.”

If you’re already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2… good. You’ll fit right in.
