Lonza is seeking a Key Account Manager to join our Informatics team. This position  will support the European region! We are looking for an individual with experience in manufacturing execution systems (MES) and/or laboratory information management systems (LIMS)  for life sciences product manufacturing and/or quality control microbiology to drive current and emerging direct sales opportunities for enterprise software  in the pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical and medical device industries. The incumbent will  get the opportunity to drive complex sales processes and engage with multiple high-level decision makers as well as make a difference by helping pharmaceutical, biotechnology and cell & gene therapy companies get lifesaving products to the market faster while utilize strong social, verbal and written communication skills to attract customers with our proven solutions. The position is available as a remote role from most European countries!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed an assigned sales quota for new software licenses and professional services revenue
  • Manage and drive the sales process from lead identification through close for an emerging product technology solution focused on electronic data management associated with life sciences product manufacturing.
  • Present our products and solutions in a compelling manner to potential clients and the life science industry on sales calls and industry trade shows
  • Conduct all activities and keep personal qualities such as integrity, appearance and sociability in a manner contributory to maintenance of optimum corporate image
  • Possess the ability to work autonomously from a home-based office as well as contribute to overall team performance
  • Update and maintain an opportunities sales funnel via Lonza’s Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) system
  • Work with project delivery team to assist in the management of customer projects
  • Prepare and submit to management timely and accurate reports that provide information regarding forecasts, sales and market activity and current status of new product launch
  • Work with the marketing team to develop new ideas and marketing campaigns to attract new customers
  • Experience in cGMP manufacturing or quality control is strongly preferred

Key Requirements: 

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Life Sciences sector with emphasis in cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology or biochemistry is preferred.
  • Hands on experience with successful sales or pre-sales activities in a complex selling environment (multiple decision makers, global teams, etc.).
  • Experience selling or promoting informatics, analytics and/or process automation enterprise software platforms to the life science industry is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, customer relationship and negotiation skills are required.
  • Proficiency in English and German is a must, additional French language is an advantage
  • Ability to travel 25% - 50%
