We're building a small founding team inside Jane to do one thing: reimagine what practice management software looks like when AI is the foundation, not a feature. That's Agent Jane, and the platform powering it.
Jane is practice management software built for healthcare clinics: scheduling, charting, billing, and more. We started in 2014 and grew entirely through word of mouth. No sales team. Just a product people loved enough to tell their colleagues about. Today, Jane is valued north of $1.8B, serves 65,000+ practices, and is profitable.
But here's the thing: healthcare practitioners got into their work to help people, not to spend hours on documentation, billing, and admin. Every minute lost to busywork is a minute not spent with a patient or their family. That's the problem we're here to solve. AI is reshaping how software works and we believe it's our responsibility to rethink Jane with that in mind. We don't want our customers and their patients sitting on the sidelines while the rest of the world transforms. So we're not waiting.
We're a startup inside Jane. You get the autonomy and urgency of an early-stage company, with the stability of an established one. That stability comes with accountability: we succeed when Jane succeeds, not just when Jane.ai ships.
What you'll be buildingTwo things that push each other forward.
⚙️ A platform that empowers Jane teams to ship AI-powered features fast. This is the infrastructure layer other teams depend on, the SDK and tooling that lets Jane move at AI speed without rebuilding from scratch every time.
🤖 Agent Jane, a product that reimagines how practitioners interact with Jane. An AI that doesn't just chat, but knows your practice and proactively helps. You're not just building features here, you're figuring out what this product should be, what to invest in next, and where the biggest opportunities are for our customers. That means being close to the problem, surfacing what's worth building, and making the call.
You'll ship production code from week one and have real ownership over what gets built, including the architecture and how the team operates. This is founding-team work.
What we're looking forOpenness with our stack. Ruby, Rails, TypeScript, React Native. The field moves fast and that excites you. If you have practical AI experience, whether building AI-powered products or orchestrating agents in your own dev workflow, that's a plus.
Self-directed. You see what needs to happen and make it happen. Comfortable with ambiguity, no need for someone to define your work for you.
Builder instincts. You've shipped something from scratch before, a product, a company, a side project that people actually used. You know what it takes to go from zero to one.
Bias toward action. You move fast, iterate, and learn. You'd rather ship and improve than wait for perfect.
Security-conscious. We work with sensitive health information and take that seriously. You understand why this matters and build accordingly.
Jane.ai is currently a team of roughly 6 people operating with its own roadmap, priorities, and ways of working. No PMs initially. Product-minded engineers working closely with talented designers, making decisions together. We demo new capabilities every week.
We're remote and async-first, connected to Jane for shared services but running our own playbook. We're flexible on level. What matters most is whether you can contribute meaningfully from day one.
If that sounds like a lot of ownership, it is. If it sounds energizing, keep reading.
A note on paceJane.ai is in a different season than most teams. We're chasing product-market fit with urgency. The pace is faster, the ambiguity is higher, and we lean in when it counts. If you've wanted to be early at something meaningful, with real resources and real customers behind it, this is that.
What we offerCompetitive cash and stock options. The salary range reflects multiple levels, and both scale with where you come in.
On equity: Jane is profitable, growing, and valued at $1.8B. Our team has seen real liquidity events as the company's value has grown, and we expect that to continue. This isn't options on a bet, it's options on a healthy, innovative business that's paving the future of Allied Healthcare and we want you to share in it.
On the work itself: if you've felt held back by the ceiling at a previous role, this is different. You'll work on hard problems, talk directly to customers, and see your work matter to people doing genuinely important things.
