Available Location: Austin
Role Summary:
As an IT Product Manager Intern, you will play a pivotal role in transforming how Cloudflare's internal teams triage, prioritize, and execute work. You will be on a mission to break down silos and supercharge how internal teams collaborate. This role focuses on redefining processes by leveraging AI to generate dynamic assets and automate workflows. We are looking for an analytical, innovative, and empathetic thinker who is passionate about leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI to solve complex workflow inefficiencies, streamline communication, and ensure strong alignment between business and technical teams. A variety of IT Product Management focal areas include:
  • Strategic Asset Automation - you will redefine how product documentation drives IT development at Cloudflare. Instead of manually drafting static documents, you will leverage AI to generate dynamic, high-fidelity assets-from Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria to technical vendor analyses.
  • Collaboration Acceleration - you will be on a mission to break down silos and supercharge how our internal teams work together and continually align. You will act as a researcher and strategist, conducting deep-dive interviews with Product Managers and stakeholders across the organization to uncover hidden friction points in communication and cross-functional alignment and progress updates.
  • Intake Strategy & Automation - you will play a pivotal role in transforming how Cloudflare's internal teams triage, prioritize, and execute work. You will partner with engineering teams and internal stakeholders to design and implement an AI-driven solution that automates ticket intake, significantly reducing manual triage overhead.

Note: The projects listed above are examples of the high-impact work we focus on. None of these projects are guaranteed. The actual internship project(s) will be assigned based on Cloudflare's most critical business priorities at the time of the summer 2026 internship.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Lead the product discovery and definition for internal systems, translating high-level business needs into clear technical specifications and user stories.
  • Lead comprehensive user research by interviewing internal stakeholders to map out the current collaboration landscape and identify major pain points.
  • Architect AI-driven document pipelines that ingest raw stakeholder inputs and output structured, standard-compliant assets such as Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Product Roadmaps, and User Personas.
  • Design and validate AI-driven logic workflows and solutions-such as automated meeting synthesis, intelligent knowledge retrieval, or cross-team dependency alerts-that automatically identify and cluster similar tickets, enabling teams to manage "themes" of work rather than individual tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement thoughtful automation and deliver a functional MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that integrates seamlessly into Cloudflare's existing tool stack.
  • Innovate using an AI strategy to maintain the product backlog for internal platforms, helping to make trade-off decisions between speed of delivery and feature depth based on stakeholder inputs and business value.
  • Optimize the "Discovery to Development" velocity by identifying friction points in the documentation process and deploying generative solutions that reduce lag time.
  • Develop validation frameworks that utilize AI to cross-reference incoming requests against existing requests and OKRs, ensuring resources are automatically prioritized for high-impact initiatives.
  • Define and deploy success metrics for improvements, measuring how your solutions reduce manual triage overhead, meeting fatigue, email overhead, or information search time.

Must-Have Skills:
  • Educational Background: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Organizational Psychology, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • AI/ML Fluency: A strong conceptual understanding of Artificial Intelligence, specifically how LLMs and Natural Language Processing (NLP) can be applied to text analysis, workflow automation, text summarization, sentiment analysis, and knowledge management. Practical experience or strong theoretical knowledge of prompting LLMs to generate structured outputs is essential.
  • Product Fundamentals: Demonstrated understanding of the Product Management lifecycle, including requirements gathering, writing user stories, and agile/scrum methodologies. Proficiency in defining problems, validating hypotheses, and prioritizing features based on user impact. Deep familiarity with standard product artifacts (BRDs, PRDs, Roadmaps) and an understanding of their importance in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Analytical & Process Mindset: Ability to map out complex process flows and identify specific areas where human intervention can be replaced by logic or automation. Ability to break down a business problem into its technical components and evaluate software vendors or tools based on objective criteria (Analytical Rigor). A mindset for efficiency and eagerness to automate repetitive writing tasks (Process Optimization).
  • Communication & Research: Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly. Strong ability to conduct empathetic customer interviews, ask probing questions to get to the root cause, and synthesize unstructured feedback into actionable insights (User Research Skills).

Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Platform Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Jira or Salesforce or similar Enterprise Service Management tools. Experience with collaboration platforms (e.g., Miro, Google Workspace).
  • Advanced AI Knowledge: Familiarity with the concept of Model Context Protocols (MCPs) or agentic workflows.
  • UX/Design: Ability to create simple wireframes or mockups (using Miro or similar) to visualize your solution concepts for stakeholders.
  • Other Experience: Prior internship experience in Product Management, Business Analysis, or IT Operations.
  • Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of ROI (Return on Investment) calculations to support the creation of robust Business Cases.
