JOB SUMMARY
As an IT Intern with Schellman, you'll support the firm's data and business intelligence initiatives in a hands-on, collaborative role. You'll work closely with the IT team on metrics, dashboarding, and a transition to a new BI platform, helping make data more accessible, organized, and actionable across the organization. This role is more interface and collaboration-focused than deeply technical, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys working with data and communicating insights.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Data & Business Intelligence
Support the transition to a new Business Intelligence platform, including data migration and validation tasks
Assist with building and maintaining dashboards and metrics reporting in Power BI Pro
Write and review SQL queries to support data analysis and reporting needs
Data Governance & Documentation
Help catalog data fields in the new data platform, including assigning data owners and documenting definitions
Assist with data governance tasks using tools such as Ovaledge
Maintain and organize accurate data records and documentation
Collaboration & Operations
Collaborate with IT and cross-functional stakeholders to surface insights in a centralized, easy-to-navigate format
Adhere to project schedules and keep team members informed of task progress
Escalate technical issues internally in a timely and appropriate manner
Attend project kick-off and closing meetings
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Foundational knowledge of data analytics, BI tools, or data engineering concepts
Ability to read and write SQL
Familiarity with Power BI, AWS, or similar platforms is a plus
High attention to detail and quality of work product
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Business Finance with a concentration in Computer Information Systems (CIS), or any other applicable degrees
Completed 2 years of education, achieving Junior level status
Experience through coursework, internships, or projects involving data, analytics, or BI tools
