Mattermost is seeking a hands-on IT Administrator (Contractor) to drive day-to-day IT operations and support our globally distributed, remote-first workforce. You’ll be the primary operator across identity, SaaS platforms, and endpoint management—ensuring reliability, security, and scalability of our internal systems.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an async, high-trust environment, operates independently, and proactively automates manual work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Global IT Support: Resolve hardware, software, access issues across all time zones.
  • Core Systems Administration: Own and manage Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint), and the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence).
  • Identity & Access Management: Responsible for IT onboarding and offboarding, provisioning, SSO, and access control.
  • Automation: Design and implement workflows using tools like Tines, N8N, or scripting to reduce manual effort.
  • Asset & Compliance Management: Maintain software licensing, hardware inventory, vendor coordination, and support compliance efforts for SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
  • Security Partnership: Partner with Security to enforce endpoint protection, MFA, and access policies.
Required Skills & ExperienceTechnical Expertise
  • Google Workspace administration (org units, policies, security, access and integration management)
  • Microsoft 365: Entra ID (Conditional Access, groups, app integrations), Intune (MDM/MAM, app deployment), Exchange, SharePoint
  • Identity: Implementing and managing SAML, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, and SSO integrations.
  • Endpoint management: MacOS and Windows 11 in remote environments
  • Automation: Practical experience with Tines, Zapier, N8N, and/or scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Cloud fundamentals: IAM in AWS and Azure
  • Security fundamentals: MFA, endpoint protection, least-privileged access control
Operational Skills
  • Proven ability to operate independently in a remote-first environment
  • Excellent written communication for policy, runbooks, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong troubleshooting across complex systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001 compliance efforts
  • Apple ecosystem management (Apple Business Manager, MDM)
  • Advanced Jira and Confluence administration
  • Experience in a fully remote, globally distributed organization
