As a startup, we are offering a limited-time opportunity to be an equity owner in a pioneering new industry. Nooks is pioneering Classified Infrastructure-as-a-Service (CIaaS) to provide government and industry partners with the fastest, most efficient access to classified infrastructure. We are building a nationwide network of accredited classified spaces and systems, ensuring that the best technologies equip our nation’s warfighters. At Nooks, we value innovation, collaboration, and a service-first mindset.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a technical Cybersecurity Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force’s Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) network enterprise as part of our Intelligence Security Enterprise (ISE) Program. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on securing, integrating, and sustaining classified LAN/WAN environments that enable mission-critical voice, data, and video communications.

The role involves direct technical support for the design, configuration, installation, integration, and maintenance of secure networked systems across SCI and ISR infrastructures. Responsibilities include supporting system lifecycle activities such as acquisition, configuration management, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous monitoring of classified information systems and network infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Classified Network Engineering and System Integration
  • System Deployment: Install, configure, and integrate secure networked systems supporting SCI and ISR operations.
  • Network Support: Maintain and troubleshoot classified LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, servers, endpoints, and supporting hardware.
  • Infrastructure Integration: Support the implementation of voice, data, and video systems within accredited classified environments.
  • Technical Sustainment: Perform system upgrades, patching, and hardware/software maintenance to ensure operational continuity.
  1. Cybersecurity Operations and Compliance
  • Continuous Monitoring: Perform vulnerability remediation, configuration validation, and security monitoring activities.
  • Configuration Management: Implement and maintain secure system baselines in accordance with cybersecurity requirements.
  • Assessment Support: Support security testing, inspections, and authorization activities for classified systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain system configurations, network diagrams, and cybersecurity documentation.
  1. Mission and Technical Support
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system, network, and security issues impacting mission operations.
  • Coordination: Work closely with government ISSMs, SSOs, network engineers, and mission stakeholders.
  • Change Management: Support configuration control and system change implementation activities.
  • Operational Support: Ensure classified network services remain secure, available, and aligned with mission requirements.

THE SKILLSET:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience supporting classified information systems, networks, or cybersecurity engineering within the U.S. Defense Industrial Base or Intelligence Community.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience installing, configuring, hardening, and maintaining networked systems in classified environments, including applying DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and secure configuration baselines.
  • Automation: Experience using automation tools such as Ansible (or similar configuration management frameworks) to implement system hardening, configuration management, patching, and compliance validation activities.
  • Regulatory Familiarity: Working knowledge of ICD 503, CNSSI 1253, RMF, and cybersecurity requirements for SCI systems.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain either an Interim Top Secret or Active Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidates must be capable of maintaining eligibility up to the Top Secret/SCI level within 45 days of hire.
  • Skills: Strong troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and ability to operate independently in secure environments.
  • This position supports mission operations and may require occasional travel to government facilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification: Security+, CISSP, or other DoD 8140 baseline certifications.
  • Platform Experience: Experience with Windows and Linux systems, virtualization platforms, enterprise networking equipment, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

This position requires the ability to travel to USSF and partner facilities, work in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), and involves physical requirements such as climbing stairs/ladders or working in confined spaces to complete facility inspections and assessments.

This employment offer is contingent upon continued funding of the underlying government contract. Should the contract be modified, or terminated, or if funding is reduced or eliminated, the employer reserves the right to adjust or rescind the offer accordingly.
