IP Power Integrity Lead Engineer
Broadcom’s ASIC Product Division (APD) is focused on enabling customers to develop products with a sustainable and substantial competitive advantage. APD does this by delivering best in class technology platforms, easy to integrate bleeding edge intellectual property, and by providing world class customer support. APD’s customers span a wide range of industries developing ASICs for largest and most complex cloud computing AI engines, supercomputers, networking, to low power and most advanced wireless solutions, as some examples.
The Power Integrity Lead Engineer will be part of a cross functional design team developing die-to-die PHY IP. The die-to-die PHYs are used broadly in APD's custom silicon ASIC products. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of the physical composition (hardening of the PHY) focusing on all aspects of power including estimating it, ensuring PDN robustness when integrating these into large complex 2.5D and 3DIC ASICS, and testing it on silicon. This individual must be highly motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. This position is located in Fort Collins, CO.
Job Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of related experience, or a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and 6+ years of related experience

Understanding of power delivery tradeoffs in large ASICs.

Understanding of issues related to power integrity under workloads.

Able to work in a lab to characterize IP power.
-
Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.

Team player that can easily work with different personalities and skill levels.

Ability to multitask and manage multiple technical issues in parallel.

Well organized, methodical, and detail oriented.

Must develop, accurately track, and meet commitments to product engineering development schedules.
Desired:

Experience or familiarity with Ansys Redhawk

Experience with the Cadence Virtuoso design environment
-
Experience with Cadence Innovus or equivalent toolset.

Experience or coursework with RTL languages(i.e SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL)

Experience scripting in Skill, TCL, Ruby, Bash, Perl, Python, etc..

Basic knowledge of PCB and power supply designs
Typical Duties Include:
-
Develop a detailed understanding of Broadcom's die-to-die PHYs.
-
Define and document IP power use cases [HTOL, ATE, mission, etc]
-
Define and document IP power states [reset, scan, idle, active, read, write, etc..]
-
Work with interposer, packaging, analog/digital design, and physical composition teams to analyze and optimize the size and power delivery including on-die bypass, power grids, bumps, etc.

Work with cross functional teams to analyze power integrity (droop, EM, etc…) under defined use cases and workloads

Define methodologies for correlating pre and post silicon power.

Work with the firmware team to properly configure each power state, ensuring the lower power usage in each state.

Work in the silicon characterization lab to measure IP power, develop automation and power analysis tools for these tasks, and publish customer consumable reports.

Work with digital/analog and composition teams to develop predictive power tools.

Develop power specification documentation

Develop/write PHY power Integration Guidelines and Checklists for ASIC teams.

Help support ASIC customers with PHY Power related integration questions.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $107,000 - $171,000
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
