This role is part of the Land O’Lakes International business unit with a focus on accelerating global growth of Winfield. In this role you will provide thought leadership, technical support, and training to our international businesses which currently include South Africa, Brazil, Mexico and Canada for our key adjuvants, foliar nutrition products and other Intellectual Property. Leveraging Winfield’s capabilities and industry leadership, high quality products, rich data, and innovative ag technology, you will help position, develop, and market these products with key stakeholders in each country.
Job Responsibilities:
Technical Training & Product Ownership – 50%
Determine appropriate recommendations and technical positioning for agronomic practices and products (adjuvants and plant nutrition/performance and Crop Protection Products) used in each country
Provide sound agronomic support and training to in-country staff as well as all distributors and their field agronomists (agents)
Serve as a technical resource for WinField United product development and business teams.
Provide detailed training (classroom & field) and on-site sales support for distributors on product positioning, technical & agronomy bulletins, agronomy alerts, crop tips, sales support tools & programs, field diagnostics, and complaint resolution
Build and maintain a central repository of technical and sales support materials applicable to and across all markets
Assist in evaluating and pursuing new business development opportunities in prioritized growth markets.
Business Relationships – 20%
Collaborate with in country marketing teams to develop relevant marketing campaigns utilizing agronomic expertise and agronomic trends
Provide direction/insights to distributors on value of selling top-tier adjuvant systems
Work with in-country basic manufacturer partners for internal positioning of our products with their new and existing products
Relationship to Winfield US – 15%
Collaborate with key stakeholders (Marketing/Business leads, Innovation Center team, etc) to enhance awareness of International businesses, key priorities, and capabilities.
Serve as conduit between Riverfalls and International teams for joint projects, knowledge / insights sharing, new business opportunities, and product development.
Identify and recommend opportunities to leverage WF US research/insights/pipeline in International markets based on marketplace fit and relevance.
Assist in the development and execution of the talent exchange program across markets
Business Management – 15%
Lead visits to large farms/influential farms in country working with local teams and distributors
Work with teams to identify and meet with prospective new distributors; supporting via technical/product trainings and facilitating technical discussions
Assist with the coordinating and hosting of International visitors to the Innovation Center to highlight the capabilities of Winfield and enhance the perception of the Winfield brand
Manage International budget for product registrations and in-country trial/testing.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or business-related field plus 10 years of industry experience; or an equivalent of 15+ years of successful work experience in field facing agronomy roles
Expertise in crop inputs, crop protection products (CPP), plant nutrition, plant physiology, PGRs, and biologicals (biostimulants).
Strong knowledge of the agricultural industry.
Skilled in creating and delivering engaging, informative product presentations.
Strong understanding of customer needs and how to match those needs to insights and product recommendations to drive conversion
Ability to travel internationally and domestically(20–30% primarily outside the US)
Preferred Qualifications:
Skilled in creating and delivering engaging, informative product presentations.
6+ years of field experience
Experience with diverse cropping systems and specialty / permanent / nut crops such as tomato, assorted berries, citrus, apple, stone fruit, macadamia and pecan
Proficiency in Portuguese and/or Spanish
Travel Requirements:
Timing and cadence of travel are determined by business needs, with some flexibility to accommodate candidate availability and personal obligations.
Salary range: $123,920 - $185,880 (in most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges)
