DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 12 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 80 renewable energy projects in 24 states.
About the role
DESRI seeks talented, motivated, and intellectually curious individuals to join our Recruiting team for the summer internship program. This internship provides hands-on experience in the talent acquisition process at a leading renewable energy company.
As a Recruiting Intern, you will play a key role in helping DESRI identify, attract, and engage top talent to support our growing portfolio of solar, battery-storage, and wind projects. You will gain exposure to the full recruiting lifecycle, learn best practices in candidate experience, and contribute to employer branding efforts—all while collaborating with a dynamic, people-focused team.
The internship can be based in our New York or Denver offices. Off-cycle availability (outside of the traditional summer internship window) will be considered.
What you'll do
As a Recruiting Intern, you’ll support DESRI’s hiring initiatives and help build a best-in-class candidate experience. Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with candidate sourcing through LinkedIn, Handshake, and other recruiting platforms.
 - Screening resumes and supporting candidate pipeline management.
 - Coordinating and scheduling interviews across multiple teams and functions.
 - Supporting internship and campus recruiting programs, including events, career fairs, and engagement activities.
 - Partnering on employer branding projects, such as social media campaigns, job postings, and recruiting collateral.
 - Gathering and analyzing recruiting data and metrics to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
 - Collaborating with hiring managers and recruiters to enhance efficiency and ensure a smooth hiring process.
 
You’ll also participate in DESRI’s broader intern programming, including professional development workshops, site visits to renewable energy projects, and a final presentation to company leadership.
Qualifications
- We’re interested in highly analytical, accomplished students. Intellectually curious individuals with well-developed written and verbal communication abilities, analytical acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset will excel in this role.
 - A proven record of academic and/or professional achievement is required.
 - The ability to collaborate well with a small team, keen organizational skills when working on multiple projects, and a high level of motivation are vital to this role.
 - Demonstrated interest in and experience with the renewable energy sector is required.
 - Preference will be given to undergraduate or graduate students who are in their final year of full-time study.
 - The pay for undergraduates participating in this internship is $5,000 monthly with a $5,000 housing stipend. MBA interns are paid $8,000 monthly with a $5,000 housing stipend.
