Role Overview
Evaluating the viability of sites through desktop diligence review, local permitting research, and review of various site conditions on publicly available databases such as FEMA, FAA, NWI, DNR, and SHPO.
Reviewing and evaluate prospective siting locations utilizing GIS software.
Learn to assist in the preparation, execution, and responding to mailing campaigns.
Assist in identifying and preparing necessary submittal documents for permitting authorities.
Provide staffing support at community events, public meetings, and project site visits to discuss the projects with stakeholders.
Assisting other members of Project Development (Directors, Developers, Associates) with various tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Interest in Sustainability, Engineering, &/or Renewable Energy
Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
Intermediate Computer skills in all basic programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, GIS Programs (Google Earth), or willingness to learn new software and tools
Ability to prioritize tasks across a broad range of projects
- Enrolled in, or recent graduate of, a relevant degree program (e.g., Environmental Science, Engineering, Business), or solar/solar-adjacent apprenticeship program
Willingness to live by Pivots values of kindness, empathy, integrity, professionalism, balance, impact and determination
Self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions and take on tasks outside of their comfort zone
willingness to learn new things and be curious
Ability to think “outside the box” and to anticipate roadblocks encountered through site development
The internship within the Project Development Team will require being involved in project development efforts for our community solar and energy storage projects.
The Intern will support solar site assessments for critical issues related to project development and permitting document preparation. The Intern will also support community outreach efforts and origination campaigns and will have direct access to engineering and construction managers for one-on-one exposure to the technical design of solar and energy storage systems. Access to developing solar projects and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and communicate are essential.

This position offers an hourly rate of $28. Compensation is capped at 300 total hours, with a maximum of 30 hours per week. The employee will also receive Pivot Energy’s part-time benefits package, which includes:
