About the Program: 

The 10-week Zayo Summer Internship Program is designed to cultivate the next generation of telecommunications professionals. Interns will gain meaningful, hands-on experience within a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative environment. Our goal is to empower, develop, and connect our interns while fostering fresh perspectives and ideas that will drive our organization forward.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: June 2025

  • Duration: 10 weeks

  • Location: Denver-based preferred, based on hiring team’s needs.

Zayo is seeking a Long Haul OSP Deployment Intern to be responsible for supporting development, planning, engineering, construction and delivery of new and overbuild long haul routes in the US and Canada.  

Responsibilities:

  • Support in the development of RFI/RFPs for the engineering and construction of new projects.

  • Familiarize with company standards and project deliverables, perform regular audits of project documents for compliance reporting.  

  • Assist in setting up project trackers, tasks, and subtasks in collaboration with the project teams.

  •  Work closely with project managers to ensure project progress aligns with schedule expectations. 

  • Aid in preparing regular reports for management and stakeholders, summarizing project and program performance and results.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in project tracking and processes, striving for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Gather feedback from program participants and stakeholders to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Travel to construction sites (25%-50%) to learn construction techniques and best practices. 

    • Shadow field inspectors and ensure installations are compliant with Company and Jurisdiction specifications.

    • Complete a daily Inspection log that captures every detail of the day including safety talks, production, challenges, notable incidents ect.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and as per construction standards.  

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have completed their sophomore year and be enrolled in a degree or certificate seeking program for the fall semester of 2025. 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, GIS, Construction Management or a related field.

  • Strong attention to detail with an interest in learning about fiber optic networks and telecom infrastructure.

  • Comfortable working with data and documentation, and eager to tackle challenges with problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.); experience with GIS software is a plus but not required.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Estimated Base Pay Range for this role: $23.00 - $25.00 USD/hour.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. 

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance and 401(k).

The posting will be active for a minimum of 3 days. The active posting will continue to extend by 3 days until the position is filled.
