The Finance Intern supports the analysis, organization, and reporting of financial data to help drive informed budgeting and business planning. This role provides hands‑on experience working with financial models, data sets, budgeting tools, and reporting processes. The intern will collaborate with team members to assist with month‑end activities, analyze variances, prepare financial summaries, and support the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
They will contribute to routine forecasting, cost tracking, and data validation efforts while documenting processes and maintaining organized financial records. Through this experience, the intern will gain practical exposure to financial operations, analytical procedures, and corporate financial reporting within a professional business environment.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in gathering, organizing, and validating financial data for reporting and analysis
- Support the development and maintenance of financial reports, models, and dashboards
- Help prepare variance analyses by comparing actuals to budget and identifying key drivers
- Assist with month‑end close activities, including reconciliations and data accuracy checks
- Help track expenses, review cost trends, and support forecasting efforts
- Maintain clear documentation of financial processes, data sources, and reporting logic
- Collaborate with team members to understand reporting requirements and financial workflows
- Participate in testing and troubleshooting financial models, templates, or reporting tools
- Present financial summaries, observations, and key insights to team members in a clear, structured format
- Support ad hoc financial data requests and special projects as assigned
Necessary Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of financial principles such as budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Foundational knowledge of Excel formulas and functions used for data analysis
- Familiarity with financial reporting concepts and standard business KPIs
- Ability to interpret numerical data and translate findings into clear, meaningful summaries
- Strong analytical thinking and quantitative problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial information
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and adapt in a fast‑paced environment
Educational Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in at least junior or senior year of undergraduate studies. Open to graduate students as well.
Experience Requirements:
- Prior coursework or experience in business, accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- Prior internship, or finance experience a plus, but not required
