Job Description

We are seeking a Digital Product Strategy Intern to help us research, analyze, and propose innovative digital solutions in areas such as distributed energy resources (DERs), DER management systems (DERMs), demand flexibility, grid flexibility, grid resilience, and energy transition technologies. • Map the competitive landscape and identify gaps/opportunities for new products.
  • Analyze technology trends, standards, and regulations (OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5, FERC, PUC rulings).
  • Develop opportunity briefs and business cases for potential products and services.
  • Draft simple product requirement outlines (PRDs, feature sets, MVP concepts) for internal review.
  • Present findings and recommendations to product, technology, and leadership teams.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s (preferred) or advanced undergraduate program in:
    • Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
    • MBA/MS students with a focus on energy, technology, or sustainability also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong analytical and research skills; ability to synthesize technical and business information.
  • Familiarity with energy transition concepts (DER, DERMs, demand response, microgrids, VPPs).
  • Interest and knowledge in digital platforms, APIs, IoT, and AI/ML applications in the energy sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (presentation and storytelling ability a plus).

What You’ll Gain

  • Exposure to the intersection of utilities, technology, and energy transition policy.
  • Hands-on experience in product strategy, digital innovation, and market evaluation.
  • Opportunity to shape real product recommendations that may influence company investment priorities.
  • Mentorship from senior product, technology, and strategy leaders.
