Interim VP of Accounting / Controller (Contract)
Denver, CO (on-site preferred) | Full-time hours preferred, part-time considered | Immediate start

About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing, VC-backed, multi-brand consumer e-commerce company with more than $200M in annual revenue. It has grown by bringing several great brands under one roof. Each brand runs its own P&L on its own NetSuite instance, and all of them share one tax and audit process. While the company searches for a permanent accounting leader, it's looking for an experienced interim who can step in, support the team, and help keep reporting accurate and on track.

About the Role
This is a hands-on interim engagement, and you'd make a real difference from day one. It lasts until the permanent VP of Accounting / Controller is in place. You'll report to the CFO, who is based out of state, and you'll be the senior finance leader in the Denver office. You'll partner closely with the CEO, COO, and Chief of Staff. Your first focus is getting to know the accounting team and understanding where they need support. You'll also make sure leadership can rely on the numbers.

What You'll Do

  • Get to know the accounting team, onshore and offshore (15–20 people, including several accounting managers and an Assistant Controller), and recommend how to set them up for success.
  • Review the team's work and the financial reports before they go to leadership.
  • Evaluate accounting processes across the multiple NetSuite instances and entity P&Ls, then help identify gaps and quick wins.
  • Roll up your sleeves and pitch in wherever the team needs you.
  • Join regular check-ins with the CFO, COO, Chief of Staff, and CEO.

What You Bring

  • Experience as a Controller, VP of Accounting, or CFO at a company with $200–500M in revenue.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge, and the ability to clearly explain how you think about the financials.
  • Availability to start the week of October 19th.
  • Ability to work on-site in Denver.

It's a Bonus If You Have

  • E-commerce or direct-to-consumer experience.
  • Experience at a VC-backed company.
  • Multi-entity and post-acquisition integration experience, ideally in NetSuite.
  • Experience managing offshore accounting teams.

You'll Thrive Here If
You enjoy coming alongside a team and earning their trust quickly. You're a steady, approachable leader who also gives leadership the candid view they need. And you like helping a team grow, without needing to be the hero.
