About WorkOS 🚀

WorkOS builds tools and services for developers to help them implement authentication, identity, authorization, and overall enterprise readiness. We’re a fully distributed team with employees across North American time zones. We’re well-funded, having raised $100m in funding from top investors including Greenoaks Capital, Lachy Groom, and Lightspeed Ventures. Our fast-growing customer base includes rapidly growing SaaS companies like OpenAI, Cursor, Perplexity, Vercel, Plaid, and hundreds of others.

About the Infrastructure Team

The Infrastructure team powers the core systems behind the WorkOS platform. We build and maintain the foundation that keeps everything running smoothly—handling millions of requests, operating at scale, and ensuring our systems are fast, reliable, and always on for our customers.

Our team works across the stack and partners closely with teams throughout the company. We regularly step in to support high-impact projects, contribute architectural perspective, and ensure systems are built to scale. If you’re curious by nature, motivated by complex challenges, and enjoy working across infrastructure layers—this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for engineers who are excited to work on foundational systems and enjoy collaborating across the stack. You might be a great fit if you:

- Bring a generalist mindset and are comfortable working across infrastructure layers—from compute and networking to storage and databases

- Enjoy thinking through architecture and infrastructure design, and can balance trade-offs between simplicity, scalability, and reliability

- Are curious and proactive, with a strong desire to understand how systems work end-to-end

- Partner well with product engineering teams to design systems that are reliable, scalable, and easy to operate

- Care deeply about observability, reliability, and performance, and treat them as essential to the user experience

- Work independently, take ownership, and follow through—from identifying a need to shipping a solution

Responsibilities ✔️

  • Design and maintain the distributed systems that power core parts of WorkOS

  • Write and optimize backend services in TypeScript, with attention to performance, reliability, and maintainability

  • Evolve our use of AWS and Infrastructure as Code to scale systems intelligently and sustainably

  • Partner with product engineering teams to ensure systems are built with reliability and scale in mind

  • Build internal tools and shared infrastructure to support engineers across the company

  • Participate in our on-call rotation—responding to, resolving, and learning from production incidents.

  • Contribute to technical design reviews and architectural discussions

  • Document your work, share context, and help level up the team through thoughtful collaboration

  • Bring a spirit of curiosity—experimenting, iterating, and helping us find better ways to build and operate our systems

Qualifications 🌟

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Experience designing, building, and operating infrastructure or internal platform systems

  • Familiarity with modern cloud environments (we use AWS) and orchestration tools (like Kubernetes)

  • Comfort working in a culture of autonomy and ownership

  • Nice to have: Exposure to TypeScript or willingness to work in a TypeScript-based stack

Benefits (US Only) 💖

At WorkOS, we offer resources that emphasize personal and familial well-being. We offer healthcare coverage for you and your family, including medical, dental, and vision. We offer parental leave, paid-time off and fully remote working arrangements.

Benefits include:

- Competitive pay

- Substantial equity grants

- Healthcare insurance (Medical, Dental and Vision) for you and your family

- 401k matching

- Wellness and fitness monthly allowances

- PTO + paid holidays + unlimited sick leave

- Autonomy and flexibility with remote work
