The Team
It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay/Clearpay, to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 47 million monthly active customers. We want to redefine the world's relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible.
Today, Cash App has thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We've been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.

The Role
The Cash PubSub team is a foundational team that builds the tools, services and infrastructure that engineers at Cash utilize for asynchronous task processing at scale.
The team is established and working to expand scope to manage additional workloads in a reliable, scalable, and available manner. You will have the opportunity to design, build, and scale high performance systems and infrastructure that supports asynchronous task processing for a variety of applications across our platform for Cash developers.
We are a distributed team of infrastructure engineers spread across North America, and we work directly with other engineers across the globe who rely on the systems that we build. We are looking for a strong independent engineer to join the PubSub team.
You Will

  • Design, build, and support infrastructure projects that provide critical support for tremendous processing requirements and distributed system pattern libraries to customers
  • Dig into the many parts of a large platform using a wide variety of analytical tooling, and if necessary, add some new ones
  • Use a data-driven approach to make the call on new infrastructure or product offerings that might need to be added
  • Work with bleeding edge cloud technologies

You Have

  • 3-5 years of experience developing production software
  • Advanced Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience working with Cloud Infrastructure (eg. AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
  • Passion for building, operating, and debugging distributed systems at scale
  • Experience balancing urgency to implement vs technically correct solution
