Engineering Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

SUPERVISOR: General Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: Yes; direct reports include Engineering teams.


Position Summary 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in design consultation, development, and production of high-reliability cable harnesses for the aerospace and medical device industries. This role is critical in ensuring our products meet stringent industry standards, drive continuous improvement, and support our manufacturing operations.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field); Master’s preferred.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in aerospace harness engineering roles, with 3+ years in a leadership/management position.
  • Experience with CAD tools, electrical schematics, and harness design software.

Knowledge:

  • Strong background in cable harness design, manufacturing, and aerospace standards.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, MIL-specs, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and spaceflight harness requirements.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with cross functionally.

  • Ability to develop innovative design solutions for interconnect applications.


Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Manage workloads, set priorities, and ensure projects stay on schedule.

Product Development & Engineering Support:

  • Oversee the development and manufacturability of cable and wire harness assemblies for both aerospace and medical device applications.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as AS9100, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and NASA-STD-8739.4.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to define engineering requirements.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and custom-engineered solutions.

Manufacturing & Process Optimization:

  • Work closely with production teams to enhance manufacturing processes, efficiency, and quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Develop and implement engineering best practices for cable harness fabrication.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure all designs and processes meet aerospace and medical device regulatory requirements
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for engineering and manufacturing issues.
  • Support audits and maintain compliance with industry standards.

Project & Budget Management:

  • Oversee engineering project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product reliability and performance.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Supply Chain, and Production to achieve business goals.

 Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required. 

 

Internal and External Relationships

Internal Relationships: Collaborate closely with sales, quality and manufacturing teams to ensure high quality standards and efficient production.

External Relationships: Work directly with suppliers and customers to develop effective solutions.

Pay: $120-150K annually
