Install, deploy, and migrate IBM problem-determination tools in z/OS mainframe environments; convert and integrate ISV tools; support DB2, CICS, and IMS application environments; perform problem determination and resolution; develop/modify REXX automation; and provide customer/internal training and technical workshops.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced IBM PD Tools Migration Specialist to support product-development and problem-determination tool migrations in IBM mainframe environments. This role requires expertise in IBM tools, z/OS systems, and the competitive / ISV tools being replaced.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and deploy IBM PD tools following best practices and customer requirements.
- Support migration activities involving conversion and integration of IBM and ISV problem-determination tools.
- Provide training sessions, workshops, and technical presentations for customers and internal teams.
- Perform problem determination and resolution for IBM products in customer environments.
- Work across DB2, CICS, and IMS environments as part of installation, deployment, and migration support.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
- Strong z/OS knowledge and detailed familiarity with IBM PD tools and associated components.
- Hands-on experience with Non-IBM / ISV tools being migrated or replaced, including BMC FileAid, CA Broadcom File Master / CA File Master Plus, CA Broadcom PDSMAN, and Macro4 InSync.
- Understanding of migration and conversion activities to IBM PD tooling such as IBM File Manager and IBM Hourglass.
- Strong ISPF and IDz
- Programming skills in COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, and C/C++.
- Experience with CICS, DB2, and IMS application programming and administration.
- Ability to develop or modify REXX scripts to support migration and automation requirements.
Preferred / Additional Skills
- Broader familiarity with IBM and ISV tool language, conversion processes, and migration best practices.
- System-programming background in support of installation and deployment activities.
