Brief Description:

The HSE Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of and adherence to Company HSE requirements and operational expectations in partnership with other HSE professionals and Operations. Responsibilities include managing HSE-related activities for the designated operational area(s) and ensuring work activities are conducted in accordance with Company policies, standards and processes, and relevant regulatory requirements. The HSE Supervisor is responsible for supervising and leading a team of HSE Advisors, while supporting Operations and other functional groups.

Detailed Description:
  • Coordinate with HSE leadership and oversee HSE team to ensure consistent, yet effective approach to HSE responsibilities while adhering to current best practices.

  • Promote a risk-based approach (e.g., field-based hazard identification and risk assessments) to HSE management utilizing Company policies, standards, and processes for all operational activities.

  • Planparticipate, train others, and complete HSE audits/reviews of drilling operations in assigned areas to ensure implementation and compliance with HSE requirements. To include conducting safety and environmental assessments and inspections of records, equipment, and facilities to promote compliance with safety regulations and record keeping requirements as established by the Company and/or local, state, or federal laws.

  • Provide guidance, coaching and training, as well as promoting the Company’s safety related policies and reinforce the commitment to an incident free safety culture.

  • Develop, implement, train others, and effectively communicate Company safety and environmental policies and procedures in all areas of field operations. 

  • Verify and ensure compliance with all HSE related training to include internal and external training as identified by audit findings for the designated area of responsibility and support facilitation of various trainings and perform hazard awareness training and safety coaching during field operations and site visits.

  • Ensure compliance and train others in reporting systems for collecting, storing, analyzing, tracking, and reporting HSE performance data (e.g. incident report findings, audit actions, and related HSE metrics) and prepare statistical information to present during internal and external meetings. 

  • Lead and participate in risk management activities including work planning, hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk controls identification and implementation.

  • Provide expertise and mentorship in incident investigation and reviews to assist in identifying causal factors and root causes along with identification of the corrective actions and preventive actions necessary to prevent recurrence.

  • Proactively and strategically identify incident trends and recommend improvement goals and strategies based on analysis of relevant statistics.

  • Supervise the facilitation of case management, including conducting interviews and performing frequent follow- ups to ensure ongoing support and compliance with third party medical recommendations to minimize recordable incident exposure while partnering with the internal claims department regarding light duty offers, and approved facilities and submit the required documentation promptly.

  • Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by immediate supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Expert level knowledge in emergency response and first aid to include continual development of skills, program requirements and guidelines, and ability to maintain train the trainer status. 

  • Professionally communicate regulations, risk management, and risk assessment skills while training others. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills within various computer applications and programs, including MS Office products and skilled ability to analyze and present statistical information in front of internal and external audiences.

  • Extensive expertise in all relevant government laws, regulations, and reporting procedures, including but not limited 

  to OSHA, DOT, API, and industry-specific compliance requirements with a high aptitude to communicate regulations, risk   management and risk assessment skills. 

  • Expert level knowledge and ability to train others on rig equipment including technology, materials, the utilization of maintenance systems, processes, and implementation and ensuring regular follow up on maintenance practices. 

  • Mentor, lead and train others on comprehensive incident investigations, ensuring accurate root cause analysis, and effectively communicating findings to enhance safety and operational performance.

  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively and effectively navigate difficult conversations.

  • Working at heights, including but not limited to climbing a straight ladder or stairs approximately 142 feet from the rig floor to perform inspections, investigations, and/or training with required PPE while maintaining 100% tied off.

  • Spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around the work environment with many moving objects.

  • Works in remote locations and heavy industrial settings which includes working around constantly moving overhead machinery, being near loud equipment with limited access to emergency services.

  • Mandatory adherence to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, including performing on site employee collections and Fit for Duty evaluations, including training others. 

  • Expert Knowledge of the Corrective Work Order (CWO) process and ability to provide coaching and training to the jobsite manager and others. 

  • Train field employees and HSE Advisor in annual compliance requirements (forklift, manlift, CPR, first aid and others as required) while sharing knowledge and best practices with other Advisors to enhance their skills and performance. 

  • Advanced knowledge of loose lifting gear and inspection process, with the capability to lead a team in completing annual loose lifting gear inspections. 

  • Subject Matter Expert in confined space entry requirements and company guidelines with capability to effectively train others in these practices.

  • Subject Matter Expert of all PTW components (identifying electrical and pressure hazards, hazard mitigation, planning, preparation, and closure of a job) while ensuring compliance and responsibility to train others.

  • Attend and successfully complete all additional training courses, certification courses and related work, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. 

  • Five years (5) of experience in a field based HSE role with at least two (2) of those years being in the drilling industry

  • Strong understanding of drilling processes, equipment, and systems

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Supervisory experience of four or more personnel
  • Two (2) years of environmental management experience

  • OHST, CSHO, or other recognized certification in HSE-related subject
Additional Details:

This position requires the person to work in both office locations and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including precipitation, cold/heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions. The HSE Supervisor will be regularly exposed to the typical conditions of the local area where the drilling operations and rigs are located. This position involves occasional manual labor functions and duties.

The HSE Supervisor must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others, including coworkers and third parties. They must be able to work closely with others and under time-sensitive deadlines, including potential

emergency response situations. They must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days, and occasionally nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

The target pay range of this role is $103, 200.00 to $121, 400.00 annually.

This role is classified as Salaried.

This role may be eligible for a cell phone allowance.

This role is eligible to participate in our Vehicle Program.

This role is eligible for consideration in our annual discretionary bonus plan.
