About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Human Resource Manager to serve as the company's sole HR leader, owning the day-to-day People Operations function. This is a critical individual contributor role for someone who is detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable managing all of HR while serving as a trusted resource to employees and leadership.

The primary focus of this position will be payroll & benefits administration, HRIS management, HR compliance, and employee lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable working through a payroll discrepancy, managing an annual benefits renewal, configuring an HRIS workflow, partnering with Finance on tax compliance, and advising a manager on an employee issue.  We are particularly interested in someone with hands-on Rippling experience who can serve as subject-matter expert and own the platform; and someone who is SHRM-CP or PHR certified.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & Benefits Administration
  • Own and oversee the company's end-to-end payroll process, partnering closely with Finance and payroll providers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll tax and employment requirements, incl. earnings codes and multi-state considerations.
  • Manage the employee benefits programs by partnering with vendors and advisors to ensure accurate administration, compliance, comms, and process improvements.
  • Lead the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment process.
  • Administer and oversee the company's 401(k) plan, including employee eligibility, contributions, administrator coordination, compliance, and plan governance.
  • Manage payroll and/or benefits changes for new hires, terminations, promotions, merit increases, bonuses, deductions, qualifying life events, leave, etc.
  • Reconcile payroll and HRIS data and proactively identify and resolve payroll, benefit, or deduction discrepancies, serving as primary contact for employee questions.
  • Partner with Finance and advisors on annual audits and other required filings.
HRIS Administration & HR Compliance
  • Serve as the primary administrator and internal owner of Rippling, including employee data, workflows, permissions, reporting, integrations, and configuration.
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy and confidentiality, and employee record-keeping (e.g. I-9s, background checks, personnel files, tax & benefits records).
  • Develop and improve scalable HR processes, policies, SOPs, and workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, (incl. filings, notices, and compliance deadlines), partnering with counsel when appropriate.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and other internal documentation.
  • Support leave administration, including applicable federal/state requirements.
Employee Life Cycle, Performance Management & Recruitment
  • Own a consistent and professional end-to-end onboarding process, including employment docs, I-9s, tax forms, benefits enrollment, system access, and training.
  • Manage employee changes, transfers, promotions, and other lifecycle events.
  • Manage employee offboarding, incl. final pay, benefits transitions, documentation, system access, COBRA, and support leadership with separations as needed.
  • Support leadership with the administration of performance management processes (OKRs), as well as performance-related documentation (e.g. PIPs).
  • Support hiring managers with recruitment efforts, including job description development and posting, as well as candidate screening and coordination.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations and issues, escalating matters appropriately.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Hands-on experience as HRIS admin (Rippling experience strongly preferred).
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification (strongly preferred).
  • Experience supporting a growing company with a lean HR function.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership and prioritize competing demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential info, and strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $90,000–$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience, scope, and location, plus a comprehensive benefits package:

  • Work remotely (in the continental U.S).
  • Health insurance:  Medical, dental, vision and other.
  • Vacation:  Flexible PTO, 9 paid holidays, and one company-wide week off.
  • 401(k):  With a 3% company match.
  • Home office setup:  Get a laptop + $130 monthly stipend for home expenses.
