The HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department. This position assists with recruitment, employee records, onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, employee inquiries, scheduling, and general HR activities while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources department.
  • Assist with posting job openings and coordinating recruitment activities.
  • Review applications and resumes and assist with scheduling interviews.
  • Communicate with candidates regarding interview schedules, required documents, and hiring processes.
  • Prepare new-hire paperwork and assist with onboarding and orientation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and records.
  • Enter and update employee information in HR databases and systems.
  • Assist employees with general questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and company programs.
  • Assist with payroll-related data, including timesheets, attendance records, and employee information.
  • Support benefits administration and assist employees with benefits-related questions.
  • Track employee attendance, leave, vacation, and other personnel information.
  • Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, letters, forms, and other documents.
  • Assist with employee separations, exit paperwork, and offboarding procedures.
  • Maintain HR calendars and schedule meetings, orientations, and training sessions.
  • Assist with employee training and development activities.
  • Ensure HR records and documentation are organized and up to date.
  • Assist with compliance-related documentation and audits.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and company information.
  • Communicate with managers, employees, candidates, and external vendors as needed.
  • Perform general administrative and clerical duties for the HR department.
  • Support special HR projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree or HR coursework preferred.
  • Previous administrative, office, customer service, or HR experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Basic understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Professional and dependable attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of an organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Human Resources.
  • Familiarity with HRIS or employee-management systems.
  • Experience with recruiting and applicant tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll and benefits administration.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience maintaining personnel records.
  • HR certification or coursework is a plus.
