Janitorial - Hyland Hills Fitness Center
General Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the HHFC Janitorial position is responsible
for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the Hyland Hills Fitness
Center. This role is essential in ensuring that all facility areas are hygienic, fully stocked, and
operating at the highest standard to support guest satisfaction and health standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Maintain the cleanliness of all fitness center areas, including:
a. Locker rooms, showers, restrooms, and changing areas
b. Workout zones, including strength and cardio equipment
c. Group fitness rooms, floors, mirrors, and windows
d. Common areas such as the front lobby, hallways, and offices
2. Clean and disinfect all high-touch surfaces and equipment
3. Refill paper products, soaps, sanitizers, and other supplies as needed throughout the
facility
4. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and carpets daily
5. Remove trash and recycling from all areas and dispose of properly
6. Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify and report maintenance needs or safety
hazards
7. Immediately report broken or malfunctioning equipment (e.g., toilets, gym machines,
lighting, etc.) to Recreation Coordinator
8. Follow all safety procedures for cleaning product use, chemical handling, and protective
equipment
9. Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the fitness center
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Support deep cleaning projects on a weekly/monthly basis (e.g., floor waxing,
equipment detailing, etc.)
2. Respond promptly to emergency clean-ups
3. Assist during special events or facility maintenance projects when needed
4. Attend all required staff trainings
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
1. Strong understanding of cleaning best practices in a high-traffic environment
2. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently during independent work
3. Strong communication and professionalism when interacting with members and staff
4. Basic understanding of facility safety, sanitation, and infection control
5. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
6. Ability to identify and respond to facility issues or hazards quickly
Working Environment/Physical Abilities:
1. Ability to work around noise, activity, and guests throughout the shift
2. Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods
3. Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
4. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly
5. Exposure to various cleaning chemicals and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
6. Ability to work night/overnight shifts as scheduled
7. Must be 18 years or older
8. Reliable transportation required
