Area Description:

The Central Field Technical Operations (CFTO) team at GFiber is responsible for the national deployment, maintenance, and operational excellence of our fiber network. This Head of Strategic Initiatives will act as a key operational leader, helping to untangle complex workflows and standardize processes across the organization. This ensures our functional field leaders can remain focused on delivering exceptional, highly reliable internet to our customers.

Role Description:

As the Head of Strategic Initiatives for CFTO, you will serve as a high-level individual contributor and strategic partner to the Senior Director. You will be responsible for driving process excellence, operational standardization, and executing critical cross-functional projects across the national field operations organization. You will bridge the gap between Field Operations, Customer Service, and IT/Engineering, solving systemic challenges to transition the organization from a reactive model to a proactive, "zero-defect" culture.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Audit, refine, and deploy operational frameworks across CFTO, including the modernization of performance management and accountability models to ensure they drive appropriate field behaviors.
  • Lead the strategic rollout and cross-functional alignment for enterprise-grade workflow tools, bridging the gap between Field Operations and Engineering teams.
  • Act as the primary operational liaison to resolve complex system architecture issues (such as address database logic and buy-flow integration) to eliminate friction between Sales, Customer Service, and Field Operations.
  • Partner with technical standards teams to design and implement processes that support a proactive, "zero-defect" culture in field execution.
  • Analyze operational data and synthesize insights to advise senior leadership on resource allocation and process improvement opportunities.

At a minimum we’d like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in telecommunications, ISP, or fiber-optic field operations.
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects spanning operations, engineering, and customer service.
  • Experience auditing operational processes and deploying standardized frameworks across multiple regions.

It’s preferred if you have:

  • Experience bridging the gap between highly technical engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity and operate effectively as an individual contributor in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience with enterprise workflow management tools, GIS systems, and field service dispatch software.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to translate operational data into executive-level strategy.
  • Proven track record of transitioning operational teams from reactive to proactive service models.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $185,000 - $204,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
