About the Role  

Cleo is, and always has been, an AI company (9 years running!) and we’re pointing humanity’s most powerful technology at one of consumers’ biggest pain points: money. It’s a profound story of innovation and customer-first thinking, and we’re looking for a seasoned Head of Motion Design to define how our forthcoming brand moves in the world.

From bold campaigns to bite-sized social content, motion is core to how we express the brand. You’ll define the motion language for one of the most creatively ambitious AI brands in the world. It’s a rare opportunity to build a motion function from the ground up for a high-growth brand that’s already breaking the rules.

We value artistry in every sense of the word and we use AI in the creation of video assets responsibly. We want a leader to help us set and maintain those principles while being excited about utilizing AI in video creation as an exciting new tool in your toolbox.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Define and lead Cleo’s motion identity—creating the foundational principles and systems that shape how our brand comes to life in movement.
• Bring campaigns to life through standout motion design across paid media, social, brand content, and global marketing activations.
• Hire and lead a small team of elite motion designers/editors, and collaborators to scale motion as a discipline within marketing.
• Concept and execute beautiful, story-driven animation that supports everything from brand films to influencer content to explainer videos.
• Collaborate deeply with brand, copy, creative, and comms teams to ensure a seamless, consistent expression of Cleo’s identity across all channels.
• Build toolkits and motion guidelines that make it easy for internal teams and partners to work with our motion language—at speed and scale.
• Push creative boundaries, champion quirk, and make Cleo impossible to ignore.
• Champion AI tooling: You’ll come with a PoV on AI tooling, and a growth mindset to try new ones continuously. We want to be on the forefront here!

Who You Are

We’re looking for a senior-level motion creative with 9+ years of experience across brand, agency, or media environments. The ideal candidate can manage high-stakes projects and think big picture but also roll up their sleeves to get the job done. Specifically:

• Your portfolio shows exceptional storytelling in motion—whether it’s a 15-second Instagram ad, a brand campaign film, or a type-led animation that punches.
• You’ve developed motion systems and toolkits for brands, and you understand how to balance craft with consistency.
• Strong hands-on skills in After Effects, Premiere, Figma, and a solid grasp of 3D or mixed media workflows.
• You’re a creative thinker and a strategic doer—able to translate business needs and briefs into joyful, unexpected moving content.
• A natural leader and team-builder who can hire, mentor, and inspire a high-performing motion team.
• You’ve got a sharp eye for detail, killer taste, and the ambition to set a new bar for what motion looks like in fintech—and beyond.
