Fello is a profitable, hyper-growth, VC-backed B2B SaaS company building the agentic real estate platform of the future.
Our platform combines data intelligence, marketing automation, and conversational AI to help real estate teams engage smarter and scale faster. At the center of it is Felix, our AI teammate, which takes real work off a team's plate — running follow-up across calls, texts, and emails today, with more of the team's day-to-day work coming next.
We're not another tool in the stack. We're the system that powers it — learning, adapting, and executing in real time so teams can focus on growth, not guesswork.
If you're excited about building an AI product that's changing how an entire industry works, you'll fit right in.
About The Role:This is a hands-on finance leadership role, and we mean that literally. You will own the entire finance function — the monthly close, GAAP compliance, revenue recognition, tax, reporting, and audit readiness — and you will do the work yourself, with AI leverage and a fractional CFO alongside you, not a team beneath you.
Think of it as 50% controller, 50% strategic finance — with the controller half earning you the strategic half. Our President owns financial strategy today and is looking for a partner with the aptitude and hunger to take on more of it over time. The fastest way to earn that scope is to make the fundamentals bulletproof: books that close fast and clean, numbers no one questions, and a finance function that is audit- and diligence-ready at all times.
If you want to direct from a distance, this is not your role. If you have run finance before — or been the clear #2 who did all the real work — and you want end-to-end ownership at a company moving fast, keep reading.
You Will:Own the close and accounting operations
- Run the monthly, quarterly, and annual close end-to-end — accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, flux analysis — with speed and accuracy as the standard.
- Maintain full GAAP compliance and drive continuous audit readiness, including coordination with external auditors.
- Own day-to-day accounting operations: AP/AR, payroll coordination, expense management (Ramp), and banking.
- Design and maintain automated workflows between billing and accounting platforms (Stripe, Chargebee, QuickBooks), reducing manual reconciliation and improving accuracy.
Own revenue recognition and SaaS metrics
- Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 across subscription, usage-based, and hybrid pricing models.
- Maintain defensible, documented definitions of ARR, NRR, GRR, and churn — reconciled between billing systems, the GL, and our BI reporting — so every number holds up to outside scrutiny.
- Produce the monthly reporting package: financials, SaaS metrics, variance analysis, and departmental spend.
Own tax and compliance
- Own all tax-related responsibilities, including sales tax compliance via Anrok, federal and state filings coordination, and strategic tax planning.
- Ensure alignment with banking, insurance, and regulatory requirements; manage documentation and reporting obligations.
- Review and strengthen internal controls as the company scales.
Keep us diligence-ready at all times
- Build and maintain a comprehensive financial data room — organized, current, and accurate — supporting audits, board reporting, fundraising, and strategic reviews at any moment.
- Streamline reporting workflows so key documents, models, and disclosures are always board- and investor-ready.
Grow into strategic finance
- Partner with the President and fractional CFO on budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and the board financial model.
- Deliver analysis that informs real decisions: hiring plans, pricing, CAC and payback, vendor negotiations, and resource allocation.
- Act as a financial thought partner to leaders across Sales, Marketing, CS, and Operations, building financial accountability into the culture.
Operate AI-first
- Use AI aggressively to automate reconciliation, accelerate the close, draft analysis, and run a finance function that operates like a team of three — before we hire one.
- Partner with our internal GTM AI team — the group building agentic solutions across the business — to design and ship automations and AI agents for finance workflows. You bring the finance depth; they help you build.
- The books close fast, clean, and GAAP-compliant every month — without heroics.
- Revenue recognition and ARR definitions are documented, defensible, and reconciled across systems.
- The data room is always current; an audit or diligence request is a non-event.
- Leadership trusts the numbers completely and gets insight, not just reporting.
- Within 6–12 months, you have earned meaningfully more strategic scope because the fundamentals run themselves.
- 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including full ownership of a monthly close at a SaaS or technology company.
- A CPA, public accounting foundation, or equivalent depth in GAAP — you know ASC 606 cold and have applied it to subscription and usage-based revenue.
- Experience operating above the controller level: FP&A, board reporting, forecasting, or supporting a fundraise, audit, or M&A process.
- Proficiency with our stack or close equivalents: QuickBooks, Stripe, Chargebee, Ramp, Anrok, HubSpot.
- A hands-on operating style paired with genuine strategic hunger — you want to run finance, not just report on it.
- A proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, high-ownership environment.
We hire at the “Adoptive” level or above on Zapier’s AI fluency framework. That means you have moved beyond one-off prompting to building repeatable AI-powered workflows in prior work. Strong signals: an automated reconciliation pipeline, an AI-assisted close checklist that runs itself, a reporting package that drafts its own first pass. You will also partner with our GTM AI team, which builds agentic solutions across the business — so you need to speak their language. Be ready to show real artifacts. “I use ChatGPT regularly” is not the bar.
You are Not:- A CFO who delegates the close and reviews the output.
- A bookkeeper who cannot build a forecast or partner with executives.
- A big-company specialist who has only ever owned one slice of the function.
- Someone who needs a team before creating leverage.
- A finance strategist who talks about the numbers but does not produce them.
- Competitive Compensation: Attractive salary and benefits package.
- Flexible Work Environment: Fully remote work with flexible hours to promote work-life balance.
- Professional Growth: Opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
- Health & Wellness: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- Paid Time Off: Generous PTO and paid holidays to recharge and relax.
- Collaborative Culture: A supportive team environment that values innovation and collaboration.
- Equity Options: Opportunity to own a part of Fello and share in our success.
- Cutting-Edge Projects: Work on innovative products that leverage AI and advanced technologies.
