The Role

As our Head of Engineering, Integrations, you will own the end‑to‑end strategy, design, and execution of all platform integrations—connecting Sully.ai’s AI medical employees with major EHR systems, partner APIs, and healthcare data standards. You’ll build and scale a high‑performing team of engineers, collaborate closely with Product, Clinical, and Customer Success, and ensure our integrations are robust, secure (HIPAA‑compliant), and delight our customers.

What You'll Do
  • Define & Drive Integration Strategy. Architect a unified integrations layer supporting FHIR, HL7, DICOM, and custom partner APIs.

  • Build Core Connectors. Lead design and hands‑on development of connectors to Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth, Meditech, and other key EHR/Vendor platforms.

  • Scale & Operate. Establish best practices for CI/CD, observability, and SLAs; implement monitoring, alerting, and self‑healing for mission‑critical integrations.

  • Partner Onboarding & Support. Develop SDKs, developer docs, and sample apps; own the technical onboarding process for new healthcare and data partners.

  • Lead & Mentor. Recruit, grow, and coach a team of integration and reliability engineers; foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration. Work closely with Product to prioritize integration roadmap, with Security/Compliance to meet HIPAA and SOC‑2 requirements, and with Customer Success to troubleshoot and optimize live integrations.

What You'll Bring
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years managing and scaling engineering teams in a high‑growth startup.

  • Deep expertise in integrations throughout various industries, with the ability to pick up healthcare data standards and EHR's fast.

  • Strong system design skills—microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, message buses (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and database design (SQL/NoSQL).

  • Hands‑on coding proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Go; familiarity with front‑end integration patterns (React/TypeScript) a plus.

  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Solid understanding of security and compliance in healthcare (HIPAA, SOC‑2); experience conducting security reviews and threat modeling.

  • Exceptional communication skills—able to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of ML, AI, LLMs

Nice to Have
  • Prior experience working at a Series A or B AI or healthcare‑tech startup.

  • Familiarity with LLM‑powered workflows, RAG architectures, or agentic AI platforms.

  • Contributions to open‑source healthcare integration projects or standards bodies.

  • Background in Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps culture.
