Alongside Songtrust and Sheer Publishing, we empower over 500,000 songwriters with more than 9 million copyrights, offering centralized publishing administration and innovative rights management. With a century of combined experience, our team delivers tailored services in sync, rights management, data & analytics, and more, supported by bespoke technology and a dedicated creative and client services team.
The Opportunity
The Head of EMEA Publishing provides senior leadership for Downtown Publishing’s ex-US footprint. This role is responsible for shaping regional growth, architecture, strengthening market presence and representing Downtown as a trusted, high-impact partner across Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Africa.
This role is designed for a senior, growth-oriented industry leader, with a track-record of operating as a strong commercial operator and strategic generalist in an international business environment - navigating complex rights, creative, and commercial matters while helping define the future of Downtown’s global footprint.
The executive reports directly to Emily Stephenson, President of Publishing and can be based in any of the following locations: UK, Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany or Sweden.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the growth, organization and strategic alignment of ex-US publishing operations, spanning DMP UK / Pan-European business development and Songtrust EMEA Business Development
  • Serve as a senior partner to Rights Management to ensure best-in-class administration, governance, and market-specific execution across EMEA
  • Elevate and represent the Downtown Publishing brand across key territories, strengthening its reputation as a leading in-market partner
  • Drive and support European deal activity in close partnership with Business Development, providing senior commercial leadership and market insight
  • Build and maintain deep relationships with key European pay sources, platforms, and strategic partners to reinforce Downtown’s position in the region
  • Manage and grow the EMEA team

What You Bring

  • Deep expertise in publishing, rights management, and international royalty flows (a PRO or DSP background is highly desirable)
  • Strong and trusted network across the UK and Europe
  • Commercial credibility and the ability to sell at the highest level; originating and closing significant deals
  • Strategic thinking combined with operational execution
  • Experience complex market dynamics and cross-border teams
  • Gravitas - we’re looking for someone who can represent DMP at board level, in negotiation rooms, and across the broader industry

If you are ready to shape the future of a global music company - and bring both trust and commercial firepower to the European market - we want to hear from you.
