Job Description SummaryGE HealthCare is an exciting place to work, and the organization is growing, looking for talented professionals to join our team. We seek an experienced and highly motivated EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) leader to oversee and shape our EHS program in partnership with contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs). This leader will work closely with our contract manufacturing partners to ensure that all aspects of environmental, health, and safety standards are met and adhered to, particularly in the context of manufacturing our products safely and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Based at our Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) facility in Arlington Heights, Illinois, the EHS Manager will primarily support the U.S. & Canada (USCAN) Region's PET Contrast Media manufacturing operations (80%), the USCAN Commercial Region (15%), and the Arlington Heights site (5%). This role is critical in maintaining safe operations across the supply chain, focusing on our contract manufacturing partners to ensure compliance with GE HealthCare standards and applicable regulations.

Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities

  • EHS Program Leadership: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the EHS management system for GE HealthCare, with a primary focus on contract manufacturers. Partner with these manufacturers to ensure compliance with GE HealthCare EHS standards, local regulatory requirements, and best practices in safety and sustainability.
  • Pre-Safety Start-up Reviews: Lead pre-safety start-up reviews at contract manufacturing sites to ensure all environmental, health, and safety requirements are met before production begins. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures proactively.
  • Annual Certification of Compliance: Oversee the completion of annual written certifications of compliance from contract manufacturers, ensuring that all manufacturing partners adhere to relevant environmental laws, GE HealthCare's safety standards, and any necessary authorizations.
  • EHS Audits and Inspections: Conduct and oversee periodic audits and inspections of contract manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance with both regulatory requirements and GE HealthCare's internal EHS standards. Audit areas include equipment, materials handling, and operational safety practices.
  • Risk Management and Mitigation: Assess and manage risks associated with contract manufacturing operations, implementing appropriate risk mitigation strategies to prevent incidents and ensure a safe working environment. Collaborate with contract manufacturers to address any EHS-related concerns and ensure continuous improvement.
  • EHS Training & Awareness: Ensure that contract manufacturers provide appropriate EHS training to their workforce, in alignment with GE HealthCares requirements. Oversee the development and delivery of training programs and maintain a training matrix for all personnel involved in manufacturing activities.
  • Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions: In the event of an EHS-related incident, provide operational assistance, including investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Ensure that lessons learned are shared across teams to prevent recurrence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that contract manufacturers comply with all relevant local, state, federal, and international EHS regulations. Provide guidance on regulatory requirements and assist in maintaining documentation such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Non-Hazardous Statements.
  • Collaboration with Senior Leadership: Work closely with GE HealthCares senior leadership to align EHS goals and strategies with overall business objectives. Advocate for a strong safety culture and sustainability in all manufacturing operations.
  • Global EHS Support: Support EHS teams across GE HealthCares global operations, particularly with regard to contract manufacturing and regulatory compliance, ensuring consistent standards are met worldwide.
  • EHS in New Product Development: Provide EHS support during new product development to ensure that safety and regulatory considerations
  • Supplier Engagement & Sustainability: Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to drive sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with GE HealthCares sustainability goals. Work with external stakeholders to address environmental challenges and reduce the environmental footprint of our products.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 35% travel to contract manufacturing sites and remote locations for audits, inspections, and collaboration with contract manufacturers. Travel will be required, particularly at the commencement of the role, to assess existing operations and establish governance and assurance processes.

Basic Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience with local, state, federal, and regional EHS regulatory obligations, particularly in the context of contract manufacturing operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in an EHS-related discipline (e.g., Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene).
  • Proven experience managing or overseeing Health Physics programs, with a specific focus on supply chain assurance and good governance in contract manufacturing settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading EHS programs for distributed teams, including contract manufacturers and remote workforce.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations related to environmental compliance, worker safety, radiation management, and chemical handling.
  • Strong knowledge of radiation safety practices, including the handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials in compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Extensive experience with radiation waste handling, management, and disposal, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and environmental safety standards.
  • Knowledge of applicable radiation regulations and laws at local, state, federal, and international levels, including those governing the use, transportation, and disposal of radioactive materials (e.g., NRC, DOT, EPA).
  • Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments, specifically in contract manufacturing or similar supply chain operations.
  • Ability to effectively influence and coach stakeholders at all levels of the organization, with a focus on building a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex safety data in a clear and actionable manner.

For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $147,840.00-$221,760.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
