About Blacksmith
  • We started by building infrastructure to run CI workloads really fast. Our first product helps companies run GitHub Actions substantially faster and cheaper by owning and operating our own global fleet of bare-metal machines rather than renting generic cloud VMs.

  • Today, we orchestrate tens of millions of Firecracker VMs each week, running CI for 5,000+ companies and hitting ~$50M in ARR in 2.5 years. We've more than 5x’d our revenue since the start of 2026.

  • We operate thousands of bare-metal machines across multiple regions, regularly schedule 100k+ vCPUs concurrently, and run a petabyte-scale Ceph cluster that we manage ourselves.

  • We’ve raised $58.5M from Seed to Series B, led by Google Ventures (GV) & Peak XV Partners, and we’re intentionally building a small, but exceptional team.

  • Blacksmith was founded by a team with deep systems and scaling experience, including building search/ads infrastructure at Faire, and operating large distributed systems at Cockroach Labs. Our GTM is led by Jon Boyer, formerly Head of Sales at Zapier.

  • We're now extending the same CI infrastructure into a broader platform: running agent sandboxes at scale and building our own background coding agent on top of it.

What you'll do

  • Own full-cycle hiring for every GTM and Ops role at Blacksmith - Account Executives, Solutions Engineers, Marketing, Finance, and the business-side hires that keep the company running

  • Build outbound sourcing from scratch. We have a limited employer brand, so the pipeline comes from narrow, well-researched headhunting, our own customers, and your network

  • Partner directly with the founders to define what "exceptional" looks like for each role: we set an extremely high bar for talent and need a hiring process that ensures we meet this bar as we scale

  • Own the hiring process with urgency - you’ll balance exceptional quality with speed. Velocity is key to how we hire

  • Be the expert advisor in the business - market trends, talent opportunities/challenges, tradeoffs. You should be able to operate as a consultant to the business

  • Build out our network and brand. Look for ways to engage with passive talent and build out opportunities to convert candidates through longer term, strategic sequences

You’re a good fit if you have

  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting across GTM & Ops roles within fast paced startup environments

  • A proven track record of hiring at an exceptional talent bar. The hires you’ve made have gone on to be highly successful in their roles

  • Urgency - you have to be comfortable and able to operate with urgency in a truly hypergrowth environment

  • You’ve worked with teams that have built highly technical products, and understand the nuances to selling a role in this environment to prospective candidates. Ideally this will have been a similar infrastructure or developer-tools product.

  • Good process instinct - you know how to not overburden hiring with unnecessary processes, whilst still maintaining the correct standard of rigour

  • High agency and thrive in ambiguity

  • Real sourcing craft: you know how to reach the p99 talent

Compensation and benefits

  • Medical, Vision, and Dental insurance.

  • Competitive base + equity.

  • 401K match.

  • Unlimited PTO.

  • Annual offsite.

  • Early-exercise stock options

  • 12 weeks fully paid parental leave (US)
