The GTM Engineer will automate outbound revenue systems for cross-border payments, building enrichment pipelines and personalized outreach to identify and engage with qualified African SMEs.
The summary above was generated by AI

Onboard is building Africa's cross-border payment infrastructure, enabling businesses and individuals to move money across borders faster, cheaper and more effectively using stablecoin and blockchain rails. We're building the GTM engine that will take this to market at scale.

We're hiring our first GTM Engineer to build the outbound revenue system from zero. Working alongside an FX BD/Sales Manager, your job is to make outbound cheap to run and easy to scale, replacing person-dependent, manual research with an automated pipeline that continuously surfaces qualified African SMEs ready to move FX volume.

There is no existing motion. No enriched CRM. No playbook. You'll build it all and our $70M+ transaction volume pipeline target depends on you getting it right.

The Core Job

Right now, outbound is manual and person-dependent: someone researches a prospect, writes a personalized message, sends it, follows up. That doesn't scale. Your job is to collapse that loop.

1. Enrichment pipelines

Pull prospect data from multiple sources, clean and unify it, and load it into the CRM automatically. The BD/Sales Manager should never have to Google a prospect. The system already knows their role, company size, country, product vertical, cross-border payment activity, and any signal that makes them relevant to Onboard.

2. Personalisation at scale

Using enriched data, build templates with dynamic variables so outreach feels 1:1 but is generated in bulk. The logic you build fills those variables correctly e.g. referencing expansion into a new market, a recent hire, a relevant competitor, or an import pattern.

3. Sequencing automation

Wire enriched, personalised messages into a sequencing tool so follow-ups happen automatically based on behaviour: opened but didn't reply, clicked a link, booked a call. The BD/Sales Manager focuses on conversations the system can't have.

4. Experiment infrastructure

Build it so you can swap subject lines, CTAs, ICP segments, and messaging angles quickly. Every campaign should teach you something and make the next one faster to launch. You're not going to be responsible for just running outbound campaigns, more importantly you will build the scaffolding that compounds.

What You'll Build

By Day 30: Data Foundation

  • ICP defined.
  • Enrichment pipeline live.
  • 500-1,000 qualified African SMEs in CRM with cross-border payment signals attached.
  • The BD/Sales Manager has a list to work from.

By Day 60: Activation Engine

  • Personalised outbound sequences running.
  • Lead scoring model prioritising accounts.
  • Signals piped to BD/Sales in real time.
  • CRM staying clean automatically.

By Day 90: Activation Engine

  • Feedback loops in place.
  • You know what's moving reply rates and what isn't.
  • The next campaign takes hours to launch, not days.
  • Pipeline contribution is measurable.

What We're Looking For

  1. Technical fluency: You're not necessarily classically trained, but you love learning new tools and figuring things out by tinkering. Familiarity with Clay, n8n, Zapier, Apollo, SQL, Python, or TypeScript is a bonus. The real signal: you've built something end-to-end that worked, and you can do it again. Vibe coders welcome.
  2. Commercial Bias:  You think about the ROI of every workflow. The question you ask yourself is: does this actually help someone close a deal or grow transaction volume? You're not building for its own sake.
  3. Curiosity:  You approach GTM problems like a detective. You go three levels deep before you're satisfied. You question why a signal exists before you act on it.
  4. Experimental Mindset:  You know how to run a clean test, validate a signal quickly, and turn the result into a better next iteration. You don't wait for perfect data, you start, measure, and improve.
  5. Builder's Patience: You understand that great systems take 60-90 days to compound. You're comfortable building directionally and trusting the infrastructure. The BD/Sales Manager runs parallel to you not after you.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in B2B fintech, payments, or cross-border finance
  • Familiarity with African SME markets, import/export, freight, e-commerce, B2B services
  • Prior work at an early-stage startup where you built from scratch
  • A non-traditional background with high optimism, voracious learner and insane agency

Why Onboard

  • You'll be the first GTM Engineer at Onboard, owning our revenue system from day one
  • Direct impact on a real, large problem: Africa's cross-border payment gap is a multi-billion dollar opportunity
  • A founding team that understands both the technical and commercial sides of what you're building
  • Remote-first and Africa-focused, backed by Nestcoin's continental network
  • Competitive compensation with bonuses with meaningful equity

How to Apply

Skip the cover letter. Show us how you think instead.

Send two things:

  • Something you've built. 300 words or less: what problem it solved, how you built it, what you'd do differently.
  • Your answer to this question: Onboard serves African SMEs with cross-border payment needs. What are the top 3 data signals you'd use to identify the highest-value prospects and where would you find them?
  • Walk us through how you'd build the enrichment pipeline end to end. What data sources would you pull from? How would you clean and unify the data? Where does it land, and how does it connect to outreach? You can use tools you know or ones you'd learn, we care about the logic, not the brand names.

No right answers. We're evaluating how you think and how you'd approach building, not what you already know.
