Position Summary:
Stratos Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Ground System Operations Engineer to support satellite ground system operations. This position will act as a key interface between operations staff and acquisition offices, ensuring the development, integration, and deployment of robust ground systems and data processing solutions that meet mission needs. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to bridge the gap between operational requirements and system capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with operations staff to capture and refine requirements for satellite ground systems and data processing capabilities.
- Work with acquisition offices to ensure developed systems align with mission objectives and operational needs.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance during the design, development, and testing phases of ground systems
- Support site integration and systems engineering teams to successfully integrate data processing systems into operational environments.
- Conduct technical reviews and assessments of ground systems to verify compliance with requirements and mission goals.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve technical issues, mitigate risks, and identify improvement opportunities throughout the system lifecycle.
- Ensure seamless integration of new capabilities by overseeing validation and verification (V&V) activities.
- Develop and deliver technical documentation, briefings, and reports to leadership and stakeholders.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices to drive innovation in satellite ground system operations.
- Provide expert technical advice to government customers, acquisition offices, and integration teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 8 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on satellite ground systems or related areas.
- Demonstrated expertise in requirements development, system design, and integration of complex systems.
- Experience with satellite mission operations processes and working alongside government program offices and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of data processing systems, satellite communications, and ground system infrastructure.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to address technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and committed to ensuring the quality and reliability of delivered systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with systems engineering tools and methodologies, such as MBSE.
- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations for ground systems and data processing.
- Certification in systems engineering or project management (e.g., INCOSE CSEP, PMP).
- Knowledge of Agile development practices and tools.
