Life at Starwood Hotels is based on a simple idea: the world is beautiful and we want to keep it that way. But we can’t do it alone. That’s why hiring thoughtful and inspiring Team Members and Leaders who understand that our people, collaboration, stellar service, and respect for nature are so important to us.

The Global Brand Marketing Director will lead broad-based marketing strategy across Starwood Hotels’ global portfolio of 1 Hotels, Treehouse Hotels, and Baccarat Hotels, with responsibility for brand storytelling, integrated campaigns, openings, field connectivity, programming, and partnerships. This role is intended to operate at a strategic level, shaping how each brand show up in the market and ensuring property-level efforts ladder up to clear, differentiated brand positioning and broader business objectives.

This person will help define the marketing narrative and long-term marketing roadmap for the brands, guide major brand moments and hotel openings, and build stronger integration between corporate marketing and the field. The role requires a leader who can balance brand-building with business priorities, influence and align senior stakeholders, elevate the team out of reactive execution, and ensure Starwood’s brands remain culturally relevant and commercially effective across global markets.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead brand-level marketing strategy across priority brands, ensuring initiatives reflect each brand’s distinct positioning and point of view while supporting long-term brand and business objectives.
  • Develop and guide brand storytelling frameworks that extend beyond property-level promotion and elevate the brands in culture and in the marketplace.
  • Help lead the marketing strategy for integrated global campaigns, hotel openings, and major brand moments, defining positioning, target audiences, narrative, channel approach, go-to-market strategy, and measures of success while guiding cross-functional teams through execution.
  • Lead the field marketing model, setting strategic priorities and guiding property teams in activating global strategies with local relevance, rather than managing day-to-day coordination.
  • Set the strategic direction for hotel programming and partnerships, identifying opportunities that best support brand equity, guest relevance, and business goals.
  • Evaluate and prioritize brand-building opportunities across partnerships, programming, openings, and campaigns, balancing near-term hotel needs with long-term brand value.
  • Partner cross-functionally with brand, creative, communications, social, digital, commercial, F&B marketing, and property teams to ensure aligned messaging and execution across the guest journey.
  • Translate business priorities into marketing plans that are both brand-building and operationally realistic.
  • Gain alignment and buy-in from senior stakeholders on key marketing priorities and initiatives, building the support and cross-functional sponsorship required to move complex projects forward.
  • Lead change management for new marketing strategies, processes, and initiatives, partnering with marketing leaders from planning through implementation to drive understanding, adoption, and consistent execution.
  • Lead and develop direct reports, including a manager-level role responsible for reporting, field communication, campaign coordination, and execution support.
  • Establish decision-making frameworks and ways of working that reduce reactive, property-by-property execution and create greater strategic focus across the team.
  • Represent marketing in senior-level discussions related to brand evolution, market opportunities, and key business initiatives.
  • Monitor market dynamics, competitive activity, consumer behavior, emerging marketing trends, and cultural opportunities to inform strategy and keep the brands at the forefront.
  • Apply strong critical thinking and judgment to complex initiatives, identifying challenges, opportunities, dependencies, and trade-offs and developing clear paths forward.
  • Take ownership of high-priority, complex, and evolving initiatives, bringing structure and strategic direction to projects that require cross-functional leadership and problem-solving.
About You
  • 8 to 12+ years of experience in marketing, brand, or related roles, preferably within hospitality, lifestyle, luxury, consumer, or multi-unit businesses.
  • Experience leading integrated marketing strategy across both brand-level and field or property-level functions and across multiple markets or regions.
  • Strong background in brand storytelling, campaign development, positioning, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience developing long-term marketing plans and translating brand and business objectives into integrated, actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate strategically, prioritize effectively, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to gain alignment across complex stakeholder groups and lead initiatives through ambiguity, change, and competing priorities.
  • Experience managing and developing teams, with a track record of elevating others out of executional work and into higher-value contribution.
  • Strong judgment, communication skills, and comfort managing ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to connect creative, operational, and commercial considerations into a cohesive marketing approach.
  • Ability to lead across multiple brands simultaneously while protecting distinct positioning, audiences, and brand identities.
  • Global hospitality, luxury, lifestyle, or consumer brand experience strongly preferred.

Success in this role will look like:

  • 1 Hotels, Treehouse Hotels, and Baccarat Hotels have clear, differentiated marketing strategies that build the individual brands while supporting the strength of the broader portfolio.
  • Brand marketing that is more clearly differentiated and story-led, not solely driven by property-level needs.
  • A clear global marketing roadmap guides priorities, campaigns, investments, and major brand moments across markets.
  • Global campaigns achieve strong field adoption while allowing properties to activate them in locally relevant ways.
  • Openings and major brand moments that are positioned as strategic brand-building platforms.
  • Stronger, more consistent field marketing connectivity with clear standards and expectations.
  • Programming and partnerships that are more strategically selected and better aligned to brand goals.
  • Senior stakeholders are aligned around key marketing priorities, with clearer decision-making and stronger cross-functional accountability.
  • A team that operates with better prioritization, clearer accountability, and less reactive execution.
  • A leader who is spending materially more time on strategic direction, brand leadership, team development, and cross-functional influence.
