GIS Analyst

Cherokee Strategic Solutions, LLC (CSS) is seeking a GIS Analyst to support the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron at Schriever Space Force Base. The GIS Analyst develops, maintains, analyzes, and quality-controls geospatial data, maps, engineering records, and GIS applications that support installation planning, design, construction, asset management, and emergency-response activities.

A Government contract requires that this position be filled by a person with legal United States residency and work authorization status. The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain installation and restricted-area access, including completion of required background checks and training.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for the GIS Analyst: TBD

Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, maintain, and support GIS databases, applications, tools, maps, and cartographic products.

  • Update and maintain essential CADD/GIS datasets, including utilities, floor plans, real-property information, maps, and engineering data.

  • Produce custom maps and cartographic products to support installation and mission requirements.

  • Create, digitize, edit, review, archive, and maintain geospatial data for inclusion in enterprise GIS systems.

  • Investigate and assemble source materials, aerial imagery, survey information, real-estate information, and engineering-source data.

  • Perform quality-control reviews of new and revised geospatial data to ensure compliance with applicable data standards.

  • Use computerized GIS tools to display and analyze data supporting land use, geology, ecology, transportation, demographics, and other comprehensive-planning functions.

  • Coordinate CADD/GIS data updates and provide technical advice on GIS tools and methods for resolving geospatial and engineering-data issues.

  • Provide technical support and instruction to users on GIS tools, data, facility-management procedures, and related geospatial practices.

  • Support mapping systems for Civil Engineering, Fire Department, Security Forces, and emergency or disaster-preparedness users.

  • Prepare monthly project-status information for the required Project Status Report.

 

Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities Requested:

  • Associate degree in science; or

  • At least two years of experience in a technical field.

  • Extensive knowledge of geospatial concepts, theories, principles, and practices.

  • Basic knowledge of cartography, remote sensing, scientific data visualization, and digital geospatial processes.

  • Knowledge of geospatial data production, management, archival, maintenance, and applicable standards, including Spatial Data Transfer Standard and Federal Geographic Data Committee standards.

  • Ability to plan, develop, and implement mapping systems that support installation organizations and facility-management functions.

  • Ability to review facility-management systems and provide instruction on engineering and geospatial procedures.

  • Experience with GIS and CADD/GIS data management is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, data quality, organization, and communication.
