Company Description

RESPEC, seeks a geological engineer to assist in mining hydrogeology evaluations, groundwater services and data analytics in our Mining & Energy group. This position can be located in any of our various offices, and/or a remote position will be considered for the right candidate.

Job Description

The projects are multidisciplinary; therefore, a basic understanding in areas including geochemistry, rock mechanics, and geophysics is beneficial. Primary activities include groundwater modeling; field investigations of surface and subsurface fluid and gas mining evaluations and problems; economic brine evaluations; hydrogeological field testing and analysis; and data analysis of large multidisciplinary data sets. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering staff. Limited travel will be required in the fulfillment of these responsibilities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Numerical and analytical groundwater flow and transport modeling
  • Hydrogeological investigations
  • Hydrogeologic field test design and analysis
  • Data analysis of large multidisciplinary datasets through statistical, spatial, temporal, and spatiotemporal methodologies.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor of science degree or mater of science degree in geological engineering
  • Working knowledge and application of groundwater flow modeling, and statistical methods. Preference will be given to those that have applied these skills in surface and underground mines using MODFLOW or FEFLOW numerical modeling software. 
  • Working knowledge in economic brines, potash and phosphate mining, or underground injection wells is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills

Additional Information

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise; typical salary for this position is $75k-$95k DOEQ. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package.
