Who We Are

Terminus Labs builds software that powers investment and financial technology across multiple markets — including tax liens and the construction industry.

The main project you’ll contribute to is a dedicated platform helping homeowners repay their tax liens, improving transparency and accessibility in local finance.

We’re a small, agile startup headquartered in Chicago with a distributed team across the U.S. You’ll be joining an experienced, tight-knit group that values clean code, thoughtful design, and balanced work. We move fast, collaborate closely, and give developers plenty of room to take ownership of their work.

What You’ll Do

As a Junior Full Stack Engineer, you’ll work across our stack to design, build, and deploy new features that make a real difference for users. You’ll collaborate with engineers, product, and design to create thoughtful, scalable solutions — and see them through from concept to release.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Build and maintain web applications using Ruby on Rails and JavaScript.
  • Develop new product features end-to-end, from design discussions to deployment.
  • Collaborate with team members to translate product ideas into clean, functional code.
  • Integrate APIs and manage data flow across systems.
  • Contribute to code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in roadmap planning and technical decisions that shape our products.

What You’ll Bring

  • 1–3 years of software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails (2+ years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript and frameworks like React or Next.js
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (Postgres a plus).
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • U.S.-based and authorized to work in the U.S.

Our Tech Stack

  • Ruby on Rails
  • React, Next.js
  • Postgres
  • Heroku

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • High-impact work: You’ll help shape software used by real people across multiple industries.
  • Growth opportunity: Work closely with a small, experienced team and gain full-stack ownership.
  • Collaborative culture: Engineers, designers, and product work side by side to build better tools.
  • Healthy balance: We believe great work comes from sustainable focus — not long hours.
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); flexible remote work
