Position Summary
The Full Stack Java Developer – The CSMS Program is responsible for developing, maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Comprehensive Servicing and Monitoring System, a long-standing HUD accounting and servicing application.
CSMS is a mature, mission-critical federal software system with a browser-based interface and enterprise Java architecture. The application environment includes Java/Jakarta EE technologies and related components such as JSF, JPA, EJB, AJAX, SQL, XML, JSON, web services, and Oracle-backed business workflows. The system is used to support HUD servicing, accounting, reporting, operational, and compliance functions.
This role requires a developer who can work across the full application stack, understand complex business logic, resolve defects, implement enhancements, support releases, and collaborate closely with product ownership, QA, database, configuration management, infrastructure, and security teams.
Key Considerations
- This role is Hybrid/Remote-friendly – Silver Spring, MD 20904
- On-site expectations up to 4x annually. Additional travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise Java or JavaScript web applications and related technologies, preferably JSF and PrimeFaces.
- Design and implement front-end user interface components using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX, XML, and JSON.
- Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database-backed business workflows.
- Develop, consume, and support REST APIs.
- Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement stable defect resolutions.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, sprint planning, and release activities.
- Support testing, data validation, release readiness, and post-deployment verification.
- Assist with build, deployment, and configuration management activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, implementation notes, and deployment procedures.
- Ensure compliance with security, accessibility, and operational standards.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, and long-term application maintainability.

Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience with Java EE and JavaScript.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, XML, and JSON.
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and web services.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in Agile or collaborative development environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment
- Constantly operates a computer and uses other standard office equipment such as a phone, calculator, photocopier, and computer printer

Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Professional experience in lieu of education accepted.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $110,000 - $137,000 annually with significant performance-based bonus potential.
