THE OPPORTUNITY
The People & Culture (P&C) team aims to establish ActBlue as a top employer of choice for people who are passionate about empowering small-dollar donors in our country. This role will be the Principal People Business Partner (PBP) for product, engineering and the office of the executive teams. As the Principal PBP, you will play a critical role acting as a trusted advisor to the Chief P&C Officer, ELT leaders, Directors, and Managers across the organizations you support.
As the Principal PBP, you will work across P&C and the business teams you support to ensure these organizations have the people strategy & plans in place to deliver on the business strategy. You will use strategic thinking, strong business acumen and an in-depth understanding of the P&C operating model to roll up your sleeves and provide tactical support to daily challenges as needed. Whether coaching your clients on how to lead their teams, or managing programs that help develop our employees, you focus on solving business needs, with a people first focus, and being as transparent as possible to help employees understand how people decisions are made at ActBlue.
You will work closely with a cross-functional group of subject-matter experts to design and execute on multiple strategies including: hiring, onboarding, compensation,DEIB and talent development.
The Principal PBP is an integral member of ActBlue’s People & Culture team and will report to the Chief P&C Officer (CPO).
This is a temporary assignment with a 3-6 month duration.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Consult with leaders to create a comprehensive people plan to drive business strategies and outcomes for all the client groups you support
- Provide strategic business partnership, thought partnership, and coaching to all levels of the organization, driving a visible impact on our evolving business
- Offer thought leadership regarding organizational and people-related strategy and execution
- Provide insightful data to guide decision making and provide proactive solutions.
- Proactively solve complex problems and quickly design and implement solutions that cut across multiple disciplines, even those beyond people and organizational solutions.
- Deploy transformational people programs to shape the future of Act Blue
- Provide the best of P&C function to the business through deep expertise and focus in the following areas: organizational effectiveness, coaching, talent management, leadership effectiveness, organizational transformation and performance management, compensation and rewards, employee relations, learning and development, recognition programs and strategic development
- Proactively assess team, manager, organizational development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions
- Drive talent management strategies to support the assigned business team’s growth and individual development plans
- Oversee performance review cycles and employee engagement surveys, including calibrations, presenting results, action planning, and measuring effectiveness with clients
- Create DEIB strategies to build cultural competence to operate with a inclusive mindset
- Design and facilitate business team and offsite leadership meetings as needed
- Ensure that all the client groups you support are compliant and updated on local employment laws
- Provide insights to the CPO on P&C organization’s strengths, gaps, and risks on delivering on the strategy, vision, and goals with a focus on scalability
- Take on specific projects or activities assigned by the CPO to enable success of the overall P&C strategy work
- Integrate and partner with P&C colleagues across the organization to implement tailored solutions that enable the business to deliver on goals. Partner closely with Workplace Experience Partners, Talent Development and Talent Acquisition partners as needed.
- Act as Project Manager for enterprise wide P&C programs and daily operations to ensure foundational work, key milestones and goals are met. Identifying risk and issues and providing resolutions.
- Coach, mentor and support P&C team members and/or other Workstream leads in their oversight of the projects within the P&C programs. Ensuring the P&C team fully understands and is able to use any new process/program or policy.
- Support supplementary projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient completion in line with organizational objectives and standards.
WHAT YOU BRING
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience (MA/MS/MBA degree preferred)
- 8-10+ years of People Business Partner / Senior Management experience.
- 5+ years people management experience
- Experience across all areas of P&C: Organizational Design, Workforce Planning, DEIB, Employee Experience, Talent and Performance Management, Total Rewards and Employee Relations
- Deep business acumen and a track record of translating business strategies into impactful talent plans, supporting enterprise customers
- Demonstrated experience as a strong cross functional collaborator and influencer. Ability to manage a complex set of stakeholders and advocate change through strategic influence rather than authority.
- Expertise in consulting and coaching leaders at all levels in the organization.
- Demonstrated track record of driving DEIB programs and commitment to building unbiased processes for employee key lifecycle moments (hiring, onboarding, performance management, talent planning, etc.)
- Strategic problem solver, with the ability to anticipate risk and proactively suggest long-term solutions, weaving in data and insights as needed
- Demonstrated project management and change management experience
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships.
- Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills with an ability to tailor content to different audiences as needed

This posting is for a fractional, remote, salaried position. Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year). Additional travel may be required for select positions.

Work Schedule:
This role requires availability during established, regular business hours (Mon-Fri).
Work Environment:
Employees can expect to work with distributed teams across all U.S. time zones. Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.
Salary Range Details:
Salary Range: $144,000 - $180,000 - $216,000
ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization. Final salary offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance and current team salary parity.
