Job Description Summary
The Steam Value Stream Quality Leader, Fossil Segment role is part of the Steam Value Stream organization, accountable for leading all Quality-related activities to ensure customer requirements are embedded and delivered. In addition, the role carries responsibility as the Fossil Quality Leader, owning the Quality function across the Fossil segment.
This position drives continuous improvement across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC), ensures compliance with customer expectations, and leads a team of Quality professionals. The role serves as the voice of Quality into the wider Steam Services business, interfacing directly with customers, suppliers, operations, and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
· Lead Quality across the Steam Value Stream, embedding customer requirements into execution and managing operating rhythms around key metrics (Cx, Escapes, NCRs, COPQ). Drive trend analysis, structured problem solving, and kaizen events to resolve systemic issues, improve first-pass yield, and prevent recurrence.
· Act as the Fossil Quality Leader, with full accountability for the Quality agenda in the Fossil segment, ensuring operational rigor and customer satisfaction.
· Serve as the people leader for Quality Managers across the Fossil segment: recruit, develop, allocate, and manage capacity, while building an engaged, high-performing team.
· Provide direct oversight of Quality in Fossil Operations repair shops, and support GE and third-party quality owners as required.
· Represent Steam and Fossil Quality to customers, resolving issues directly, ensuring preventive actions are applied, and building trust through responsiveness.
· Partner with the global Services Quality team on QMS development, deployment, and internal/external audit execution.
· Apply Built-in-Quality, Lean, and Value Stream methodologies to drive SQDC improvements, eliminate defects, and standardize processes.
· Own and drive PSRs, 8Ds, and systemic corrective action programs to deliver both tactical and strategic improvements.
· Serve as a change agent, institutionalizing Lean and continuous improvement practices across Steam and Fossil operations.
· Act as a key staff member within Steam Services, shaping strategy and leading cross-functional initiatives that strengthen overall Quality performance.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline.
· Significant leadership experience in Operation / Quality within the power generation industry.
· Proven ability to lead both Quality and Operations teams with strong accountability.
· Advanced problem-solving skills, with experience applying root cause analysis, kaizen, and Lean methodologies.
· Strong business and quality acumen; demonstrated ability to deliver SQDC improvements.
· Knowledge of QMS, technical regulations, and industry standards.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to travel regularly.
Desired Qualifications
· Proven experience leading structured problem solving (e.g., 8D, RCA, kaizen) to resolve chronic issues and prevent recurrence.
· Demonstrated ability to apply Value Stream mapping and improvement methodologies to simplify, standardize, and optimize end-to-end processes.
· Strong customer-focus mindset, able to link problem solving and value stream improvements to both customer outcomes and business performance.
· Skilled at leading, influencing, and coaching diverse, global teams through complex change.
· Creates a climate where people are motivated, empowered, and engaged to achieve organizational objectives.
The salary range for this position is 142000 to 185000 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a 15% performance bonus.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
