The Financial Reporting & Tax Director (LATAM) will play a key leadership role within the Finance organization, responsible for driving excellence in financial reporting, tax compliance, strategic global expansion, equity administration, and internal control framework development. This role will initially focus on financial reporting and tax compliance in the Latin American region and supporting the company’s growing international footprint.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical accounting expertise, strong tax acumen, experience with global corporate structures and tax compliance, and the ability to operationalize structure and controls in a private company environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
Support the preparation and review of statutory financials across Latin American and other international jurisdictions.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements under applicable local accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
Provide guidance on complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, equity compensation, and consolidations.
Support external audit coordination, ensuring readiness and smooth execution.
Tax Compliance & Strategy
Oversee coordination of tax filings in partnership with external advisors.
Ensure compliance with evolving transfer pricing and inter-company transaction requirements.
Identify opportunities to optimize the company’s global tax position as the organization scales.
Global Expansion & Entity Structuring
Lead financial due diligence and planning for entry into new countries, assessing regulatory, tax, and accounting implications.
Partner with Legal, HR, and Operations to determine optimal entity structures and ensure compliant setup.
Oversee the integration of new entities into existing accounting and reporting frameworks.
Research global compliance and tax considerations, advising management on the financial impact of expansion initiatives.
Equity Administration & Valuation
Assist with:
All aspects of equity plan administration, including stock option and RSU tracking (utilizing Shareworks by Morgan Stanley), reporting, and compliance.
Maintenance and preparation of monthly cap tables.
Calculation and preparation of equity accounting entries (stock-based compensation, share repurchases, etc.) and financial statement disclosures.
Managing relationships with external 409A valuation providers, ensuring timely and accurate valuations.
Working with HR and Legal to ensure consistent and compliant global equity processes.
Internal Controls & Policy Framework
Establish and implement a scalable internal control framework appropriate for a private company.
Develop and maintain documentation standards, including accounting policies, procedures, and control narratives.
Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure financial integrity and compliance across business processes.
Identify and remediate control gaps proactively.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and tax, including Big 4 public accounting and public or private company experience.
Proven experience managing global finance operations and cross-border entity structuring.
Deep understanding of US GAAP and exposure to UK GAAP and IFRS.
Strong knowledge of equity accounting and administration.
Demonstrated success in implementing internal control frameworks and policy governance.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Strategic mindset with the ability to balance detail orientation and big-picture planning. Fluency in business Spanish is preferred.
